Lago Atitlan is incredibly beautiful, The only lake i can compare it to is Lake Tahoe w/ volcanoes. The lake has Mountains, volcanoes and is very romantic And beautiful. Sunset and rise are incredible. There are more than 10 pueblos surrounding this huge lake. Two of them, Santiago Atitlan, and Panajachel are the most interesting. Santiago Atitlan has a good... This is a stunning place to visit! The view can't get much better. We payed for a shuttle from Antigua to Lake Atitlan, traffic can get quite busy so have snacks for the ride. At the docks we hopped onto a local boat and paid once we arrived at our destination. On the way back the guy asked me to... More

I've spent a couple of weeks here in two visits during the past year. The lake itself looks like a large mountain lake surrounded by the Hawaiin Islands. You can stay in Pana, the main tourist town , which affords lots of shopping and eating opportunities, and take take day trips to the various villages on the lake. Alternatively, you... More

The lake exceeded my expectations. We stayed at Panatajell and took a boat trip across the lake to Santiago. The half hour trip was great with views of the imposing volcanoes, one of which emitted a plume of smoke periodically.

We took an overnight trip to the lake. We spent the night at Santiago (Hotel Bambu in Santiago - great place, btw) and spent the next day on the boat exploring different towns/villages. Enjoyed it immensely.

We booked a kayaking and hiking tour with Old Town Outfitters in Antigua. Neither of us had been kayaking for a few years although are reasonably fit. The day was overcast although the sun did come out sporadically. The setting is sublime - a huge body of water ringed by volcanoes with settlements scattered in the hills. We savoured every... More

Lago De Atitlan (Lake Atitlan) is located just south of Mexico in the Central Highlands of Guatemala. Atitlan means "At The Water". It is hard to describe the beauty here as the lake changes colors with all of its micro climates. There seem to be a million shades of green. Volcanos covered in Lush green forests surround the Lake. Pictures... More

Fantastic lake with 12 amazing towns on the edge some only accessible by boat. Each town is different but worth a visit to explore

I stayed at Lee's for almost two weeks and got to do a lot of tours! First day we went paddle boarding and mountain biking. It was my first time paddle boarding but Sam the guide was very helpful in explaining the techniques and I had zero problem getting up on the board. The combined beautiful scenery and calm water...
