Sent a request to take horses through a finca and up this volcano. An agency packed a terrible lunch, though the horseback riding through a coffee finca was one of the best horse back riding trips ever. Atop the volcano is a lake, where Mayan...More

To get there you need to climb a pretty difficult incline, descend to the laguna and come back on the same hard rocky incline .. but it's well worth the visit The local legend say that the laguna was originally located in a different spot...More

They call this an easy hike, but it's still quite exhausting if you don't have a good physical condition. However, I did like the hike, especially the view when clouds come over.

There is a reason this lake is considered sacred by the Mayan people. After a challenging hike up to the site (located inside an inactive volcano), you will find it hard to regain your breath just by looking at the sheer beauty and calm of...More

It is best to visit the lake as early as possible in the morning, since the sky is still clear then. We asked to be brought up to the mirador by pick-up truck, which cost us about 100 quetzales. From there you walk for about...More

It was a strenuous hike for me, but I made it. It is a very old dormat volcano that is now a small lake. Try to go as early as possible to see the lake from the viewing deck before the clouds roll in. We...More

Laguna Chicabal is a really beautiful escape from the city for half a day. Definitely leave early morning (6-7) so you can be there for a time before the clouds roll in (it's still lovely with the clouds, but definitely a different feel). Bring sun...More

This place is really beautiful, you have to hike up and down to get there but it's totally worth arriving super early and simply hearing how silent and peaceful it can be. Really beautiful place!

You can just go with a pick up in a mirador where you can see the lake from distance. The pick up is not confortable. You cannot walk down to the lake if you have problem for walking. I suggest to go early in the morning... More
