We stopped in on Saturday morning, 10/22 with only a few hours to enjoy Athens. The staff member on duty( and I'm sorry for not remembering his name) was so pleasant and helpful. He shared some history of the center & the city & recommended 2 local attractions. Then suggested we hit the downtown for lunch. We did just that... More

Surprised and pleased this welcome center was different than others. A tour was offered for only $15 to tour this historic building and listen to the stories, but taking the mini-bus around Athens with a driver and tour guide, learned so much and had fun as well. Highly recommended.

Really helpful lady sorted us out with information and maps for Athens and beyond. The centre is in the historic Church-Waddel-Brumby house which you can self tour with an information leaflet. Well worth a visit. No charge but with a voluntary contribution.

The Welcome Center is also the "Church-Waddel-Brumby House" (ca. 1820) with a strong history in Athens, Georgia. You are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the home.

Stopped in to get a map, left with a local phone book and maps and lots of local info. Lady in the center was very nice and helpful.

The lady on duty the afternoon we were there was very helpful and friendly. She gave us an introduction to the lovely, restored home that houses the center and invited us to look around. I would recommend this if you are interested in history and/or restoration. We then visited the information area where there are lots of brochures on Athens... More

We stopped by to see the house, since it's the oldest in Athens. The house was very interesting and the gentleman who staffed the information desk was terrific! He was very eager to help and make suggestions based on our interests. Would definitely recommend a visit the the welcome center to any visitor to Athens.

Lots of Georgia Pamphlets and decent information. Tours of the house and the area are available for a price. Music tour is only available with a guide...self-guided maps are no longer available. Parking lot is small and can get crowded with just a few visitors...be careful.

We have been here previously but took our granddaughter this time and we compared this home to modern ones (she is 13 yrs old so I thought it would be a good exercise and it was!) The young woman at the desk was helpful and knowledgeable and provided maps of Athens and suggestions for other places to visit.
