The Imperial Theatre is noted in the National Register as critical to the character of the Broad Street Historic District. At ninety-two years old, with its immutable history, Edwardian style structure and current function it is the only medium size traditional proscenium theatre capable of flying scenery in the Augusta area, and for this reason it is a critical component of the infrastructure for area performing arts groups. It is the only performing arts theatre within a 150-mile radius that connects artists and audience members to historic social entertainment by providing a gracious and historic setting for all area citizens.

It is an old historical theatre, still in the midst of being restored although very slowly. I have been there several times for plays, dance recitals and other special events. It is easy to get to, located on Broad St of Downtown Augusta GA. There is interior parking out front inside the median up and down the block, unless another... More

Historical theatre surprisingly still open considering what condition it was in. I would have paid double the price just for air circulation, ideally air conditioning. Women's restroom does not accommodate for the number of people attending an event. Stairs to seating are dangerously uneven without rails to assist. Seats are ridiculously small. Sound was good. Staff are pleasant.

I live in Augusta and have seen many amazing shows at the Imperial theatre. It isn't huge, but it has been there for over 100 years and the atmosphere is amazing, which totally makes up for it! They always have great shows and you can always find a show that everyone going will absolutely love.

Traveled to Augusta again to see two concerts here: Friday and Saturday nights. Bluegrass on Friday night and Motown on Saturday night. Excellent concerts at very affordable ticket prices. Already bought tickets for an April concert. Renovations and excellent concerts are slowly bringing this old theater back to a destination place!

Very pleasant and wonderful show! Imperial theatre while old is truly a beautiful hidden surprise in Augusta, it does need some attention but it is slowly getting it and once it is all done, the restoration will make it a perfect place to see some beautiful shows. The show was well attended by the beautiful people of Augusta who are... More

I suppose at one time this was a nice theater, but now it has fallen into disrepair. The seats are shabby and very uncomfortable. Not enough bathrooms for patrons and not enough concessions staff. It seems like they could have saved some money on that big fancy marquis out front and put it into new seats and a better concessions... More

The Imperial is definitely a positive experience. A smaller, older theatre with a lot of ambiance. Acoustics are phenomenal and there is not a bad seat in the house. Due to the smaller dimensions current larger named entertainers are not what you will find on the marquee. But the venues are excellent, varied and worth the money.

This elderly theater offers various local companies a smallish stage for their lower-budget productions. It is a hidden gem desperately in need of repairs, which are said to be coming. An old silent movie house, its bas relief ornaments and other character elements are a treat for those raised on sterile playhouses and multiplexes. I have only two complaints: the... More

I've been here many times for concerts. My recommendation is that you avoid the balcony seats, bad acoustics up there. Main floor has good acoustics. Gem of an old theatre!
