I read about Lapakahi State Historical Park on TripAdvisor. My wife and I drove up from Waikoloa. We walked through the entire Village remnants which was quite interesting. You have to be careful walking because sometimes it's slippery and a lot of holes and rocks....More

There are a lot of ruins right next to the seashore. There isn't much shade, so it can get warm. There are some recreated structures made of wood and thatching.

I was pleasantly surprised by the information supplied by this brief stop. But you do need water sun screen and the ability to walk over uneven ground and rocks. Much better and more interesting to see how life really existed.

I am surprised that this park doesn't get more attention from a tourist standpoint. (It was pretty far down in TA listings, and not to be found at all in a lot of the print materials I picked up.) It is a fabulous park that...More

This is a fantastic site to explore and learn about ancient Hawaii and Hawaiians lived every day. Be sure to grab a pamphlet before walking the trail so you'll know what you're looking at!
