Another famous insight into history where these magnificent trees, planted over time by famous/infamous people are like stepping into a prehistoric movie. Strangely though, the weirdest thing on Banyan Drive were the cats that disappear down the drain and pop out the other side as...More

Banyan Drive is on the water front of Hilo on the Big Island, Hawaii. These are immense tropical trees with dense aerial roots and huge canopies. They set the scene for a visit to this marvelous island with its bio regions ranging from wet tropics...More

The hotel we were staying at in Hilo (Hilo Reeds Bay) was right off Banyan Drive. The trees are huge and provide a lot of shade and shelter from rain, wind and sun. The trees were planted by celebrities or planted in honour of others....More

The Banyan trees are impressive, and the "attached" park is very nice. Japanese themed, lots of water and bridges. Takes a half hour to see most everything.

Amazing Banyan trees line this ocean side loop. It takes just a few minutes driving, so it’s worth getting at out the nearby park to wander and explore. The park is representative of Hilo with a relaxed, laid back feel to it. Banyon trees are,...More

We stayed at castle hilo Hawaiian. Took a late afternoon walk. All the trees in this area are amazing. There's a park area in front of the hotel and we enjoyed watching the people. We walked thru then came back to enjoy the balcony.

This was a quick little drive to see a bunch of gigantic Banyan trees. Many had the names of the famous (and not so famous)people that planted the trees. Very impressive!
