Hike path is slippery at places, so if you have small children or seniors, keep 'em close by! With that said, this is an absolutely gorgeous hike with great ocean and cliff views. Stream in middle is dangerous - bring icy water, water shoes, towel...More

My husband and I decided to do this hike as part of our honeymoon trip to Kauai since we wanted to see the Na Pali Coast but couldn't afford the boat trips. I didn't think it would be the same (and it's probably not) but...More

We did the easy in/out to the beach (4 miles round trip), on a cool day, when the trail was a bit wet and slick. No problem, in normal running shoes, although a few dicey spots (especially early in the hike on the rocks as...More

The Kalalau Trail is about 11 miles in total, and you need a permit to hike the whole thing. However, starting from Ke'e Beach you can do the first 4 miles without a permit. That will get you to the waterfall. We didn't make it....More

Moderate hike includes some steep climbs and uneven paths but trail is well-marked. I hiked when it was wet so the rocks and mud were slippery but the views are amazing. Take enough water and maybe a snack to get out to the beach and...More
