We did the Smith's Wailua River cruise to the Fern Grotto. The fern grotto was beautiful! However, the boat we took to the grotto was full and we all had to queue up to walk to a deck to view the ferns and then follow each other back to the dock. We sat at the back of the boat and... More

The boat ride here is relaxing and the walk to the grotto is very gentle. The walk is quite pretty as the path is surrounded by lots of trees and plants. The grotto itself is smaller than I expected, but the surrounding rock face is huge! The whole area is covered in ferns giving it an almost magical feel. You... More

I should have read a few of the reviews before...I ALWAYS read reviews though I trusted my parents (as they went there many years ago when you could go to the grotto). Live and learn... :-( Here is the short of it: 1) You can't access the grotto (you can only view it from afar). 2) You can't access the... More

as part of the Roberts Kauai tour. Again very lush, green, and beautiful. These are the sights one thinks of when one thinks of Hawaii. The waterfall in the canyon is quite nice. The music show put on by the locals was pretty good as well.

At $50 a couple... waste of time and money. They shouldn't charge more than $10 a couple. Huge ripoff!! Save your money.... Ill send you a picture of the grotto !!

For 25 dollars each on the boat to the Grotto , quite frankly a complete rip off . Overpriced for 15 minutes down the river to a cave that you could hardly see . No wildlife on the river, really not worth it at all

My fiancee and I took a double kayak to the grotto. Getting out at the dock is a bit tricky, but if you use the side with the tires then move the kayak to the side it's easy. The walk is short and well with it! It's simply amazing there!

They do pack people into one boat. It was lovely scenery and a leisure stroll up to the Fern Grotto by foot. Inexpensive and worth the effort.

Yes, this is very touristy, but the cruise up the river is relaxing and you get treated to live music. The grotto itself is slowly returning to its former splendour, but is still a lovely site to see. We got discounted tickets off of a Hawaiian tourist website and enjoyed a relaxing morning being tourists to counteract our otherwise busy... More
