I like the beach but not the waves, so this was the perfect place for me. My husband went snorkelling while I just floated around. The water was so clear that I get to see school of fishes just swimming beside me. One morning we decided to watch the sunrise. It was just perfect in celebrating our 22nd anniversary. And... More

The sands is fine, great for digging and gentle on the feet. The large rocked in swimming pool has fish that even young snorkelers can observe. This park features plenty of space and picnic tables. We came on a week day and there were only a few other families in the water. Across the way, I think it's considered part... More

You were staying in Kapaa and took a walk and discovered this beautiful find. They have many local events here as you can tell by the sweeping grounds and large picnic area. However what was most distinctive about it was the beautiful views and beach access. There are lots of chickens here make no doubt about it. The chickens are... More

Lydgate beach park is good for swimming and snorkeling. It has enclosed swimming pool. Good facilities: shower, clean restrooms, lifeguard on duty.

Even though it was raining on and off, it was still goegeous. More than enough parking. We arrived at 645 and the sun rose at about 715. It just peeked through the clouds, but was still gorgeous all the same.

My son loved swimming safely in the ocean in this protected beach area. We visited twice. Once without a snorkel and once with. I recommend with.

This is an awesome snorkeling option for newbies and those who aren't very comfortable in the open ocean. We saw tons of fish, and even an octopus! Without snorkeling at Lydgate first, I wouldn't have been comfortable on the snorkel tour we took later in the trip, or at Poipu.

Looks like this might be a nice place to take in the beach in the summer, but it pretty much takes a beating from the trade winds in the winter and is not a place you want to go swimming that time of year. Head to the southern beaches instead during the winter months.

My wife, child and I visited this beach a few times during our stay in Kapaa. Our son is 10 months old, so the sandy beach and the rock wall which creates a protected area free from the majority of the waves was very nice. The beach park seems pretty relaxed and very family friendly. At times, one can also... More

After renting gear at Snorkel Bob's, my husband and I took it to Lydgate Park. There is an area protected by shore breaks that is calm and clear. We saw lots of awesome fish!
