Due to recent flooding, lifeguards recommended staying out of water due to sewage, pollution runoff being in water. The water was not clear and rather brown as you might expect. Beach littered with flood debris. Might be awhile before its back to normal.

We visited this beach on an overcast day - so there weren't many people around. That was to our advantage.... the beach - which is very long - didn't have many people on it. The water was great, the sand beautiful.... just be watchful if...More

Hanalei Bay is a victim of its own beauty. The beach itself is gorgeous as are the mountains nearby. However, the beach is overcrowded and the stores of Hanalei are an interesting mix, but very overpriced.

We love Hanalei Bay. It is a fun town with many shops and places to eat you can walk to. The beach is our favorite beach all sand bottom with a gradual slope. In March great for boogie boarding and surfing. There are life guards...More

When we visited Hanalei Bay, it was raining. But there were lots of surfers which was amazing to see, not much of a beach since it was dirty and signs were posted everywhere to be careful of the strong current. We drove all the way...More

Fun to watch the surfers. Great place for families to play in the waves and in the sand. Nice place to take a long walk on the beach and the scenery is breathtaking. One of my favorites.

Great beach! The views are stunning, but beware of vagrants near the public restrooms and strong currents in area's of the beach.

It had been unusually rainy during our visit. We were told that they close part of the road because of flooding. But we had no problem. We traveled to the parking lot at the end of the road. Within a short walking distance are both...More

If I had to pick a place to live in Hawaii, I could easily live in the town of Hanalei, right by Hanalei Bay. 😊 This place offers a ton of walking space, soft sand and gentle waves, perfect for beginner surfers. We rented three...More

Not good for tourists to rent Airbnb or Brno in Hanalei or anywhere north. Or able to drive north of Hanalei too. Biz r open for tourists there. But some places flooded and molded out like dolphin I’d not eat at.

Not much of a beach to surf at, very shallow waves that crash on the beach in some places. The best part of the absolutely stunning scenery from the end of the Jetty. You can jump off the jetty into the beautiful clear water... More
