Be prepared for full day car ride. I must say the person sitting in passenger seat is going to have a blast seeing the views and enjoying the nature. Sadly the person who is driving cant enjoy the view so much. It will surely take a day if you want to see all the amazing stops in between. If you... More

Heard about the trip to Hana so we got up and started at 7AM, this is an experience one should take advantage of. You can take tour buses on the trip, but driving yourself , if you are comfortable with mountain driving, is definitely worth it. We went another 9 miles further to the national park and saw the falls-... More

This is a long day, so be ready. Yes, there are 620 curves and 59 bridges, most single lane, so not for those prone to motion sickness. Patience and care are essential. Watch for opposing traffic. Be patient and allow 2-3 hours one way. Check the weather before heading out. I wouldn't start the drive in heavy rain. With all... More

Locals say that they get used to driving the Road to Hana, but a very long, winding, narrow road combined with a number of other crazy tourists, made the drive very unenjoyable, to say the least. I'm not looking forward to having to drive on it again when we leave our hotel in Hana. There are many other places in... More

I was anticipating this Hawaiian road trip again, my wife was not. After some begging, concessions and promises, Millie relented. I however, was not allowed to drive, we took a tour with Valley Isle Excursions. This was not my first choice, it was my only choice, but worth it. Uncle Joe, our driver, knew the places to go, where to... More

A view unparalleled. An experience NEVER to be forgotten. Get an early start, pack PLENTY of snacks and...you wont want to waste your time eating anyway. The beauty on the Hana Highway is to be appreciated as you travel down this 2 lane wonder.

Amazing. Despite the rain and my motion sickness, I was very much able to enjoy the road to Hana. The road to Hana app by Shaka Guide was the genius of this trip. Filled with behind the scenes stops, history, and music, I simply don't know what we would have done without it. Aunty Sandy's banana bread and the red... More

Stunning views of mountains and coastline. Multiple pull over spots although most are narrow. Allow plenty of time, road is winding and narrow with lots of 1 lane roads. Beach access is next to nil-- seen 1 black sand beach, road to it looked like a 4 wheel drive was needed. Couple of small state ran parks with bathrooms. Mudslide... More

.... because no one will really understand until they've been on it. I consider myself an experienced driver (I drive for work) but there were a lot of white-knuckle moments. One-lane hairpin turns with a cliff on one side (no visibility) and a sheer drop on the other. Exciting! Terrifying. Beautiful! I'm glad I did it but I have no... More

The road to Hana is like no other place on earth. The scenery is beautiful and the rainforest so dense, it looks like night deep within. The switchbacks can be a bit un-nerving. We didn't drive the whole way to Hana as we wanted to do additional things that day, but feels we spend enough time to get the feel... More
