First off, find a charter or tour that will allow you to go first thing in the morning and that offers multiple water options like scuba, SNUBA, as well as snorkeling. We say this because you might not get the best experience doing only one...More

Top notch all the way! We chose the smaller vessel which can seat only 38 participants. The small group is the way to go. An all female crew that have degrees in marine biology. Captain Moser also has her environmental science degree. We had the...More

Wayy better snorkeling just off the beach in Wailea. An hour boat ride to get out there. YES, it does have extremely clear water. But no turtles, not many fish, no octopi. We did see two eels and seeing the fish swim in schools was...More

If on Maui, make sure to take a snorkeling tour out here. We used Pacific Whale Foundation (money helps their cause) which was great. This crater offers amazing snorkeling from fish at the surface to octopus down the slopes. There are apparently even nurse sharks,...More

I must admit that this was my first snorkeling trip, so I may not be aware of my own noob factor, here! That being said, this was some of the finest water I have ever seen! It was a crystal clear, panoramic view of that...More

I am 62 years old and did not need a wet suit. We went in April. I did not notice any difference between the Crater and on shore. Cool at first, just jump in and start swimming you'll do fine.

Yes, There is one boat rental company, but you cannot anchor there, must use a mooring and they are for commercial vessels only until 10AM.
