Great alternative for non-snorkelers!

We drove with kids to see Maui Ocean Center, and don't think I would ever go back, there was nothing special there, we should of instead take a boat trip.

We were prepared to spend the day here and ended up only getting two hours out of it. The gift shop is bigger than the animal displays. Most is outdoors. If this had been crowded, it would have been a horrible trip, because there is so little spaces to see the few exhibits. We paid $52 with AAA discount for... More

I've been to many many similar attractions all over the U.S., and this one is very well done! They do a great job of focusing exclusively on local species, and showing them to you in both large-tank and more specialized exhibits. I found the exhibits VERY informative, of great quality and clean. It took a couple hours to walk through,... More

Everything from turtles and fish to a guy giving an informative talk while underwater in the shark tank! Defiantly get the $3 hand held guide it tells you all about the displays when you get to each on and punch in the numbers from the display!

A volunteer at a beach mentioned he goes to the ocean center with his fish book - brilliant idea! We spent a very happy couple of hours there, confirming many fish we knew and identifying several others. Not to mention the ones that we'll never see as snorkelers, not divers. We got a real thrill out of the leaf scorpionfish,... More

I feel as though the fish, sharks etc are beautiful and the assortment of different species is fantastic, the knowledge is great, some of the attractions could be cleaned up and needs some maintenance. Right now it's "turtle mania" but there was 6 turtles that desperately needed cleaning (algae eating fish) and the tank was disgusting. The Hammerhead shark tank... More

This aquarium had such a wonderful variety of fish, coral, jellyfish, sharks etc. It was interesting to walk thru because you felt like you were snorkeling and not getting wet.

The last time we went to the Maui Ocean Center it was still under construction, but you could tell it was going to be good. It now has a little something for everyone, including a "petting zoo" for kids that allows them to see and touch some smaller sea creatures. There is a separate area for sea turtles (really interesting... More

We were in Maui, perusing Kaanapali, rummaging Lahaina, hitting every ABC store around, never to find an acceptable stuffed dolphin that the grand children just HAD to have. In the 11th hour, I called the Ocean Center Aquarium and asked if they had any. Low and behold, they had tons to pick from! Score! So, we got just a pass... More

Nice place, not too large, a bit over priced but worth a look, especially if you have keiki. Don't expect to be blown away but it is nice enough.
