Try to go on a day with rough seas or you won't see much of anything. There is a lookout which is easily accessible from the parking lot but the blowhole is pretty far away. We had to have someone tell us where to look...More

This was the first time I did see blowhole, after short drive from our hotel on highway 30 we arrived by blowhole parking, was windy and late afternoon all rocks were dark and hike was like on moon or different planet.

I expected to be underwhelmed when we arrived, as we were just trying to kill time prior to our flight off the island. Boy was I wrong. The wind was whipping on a blue sky day when we walked up to the top of the...More

This place was awesome! One of my favorite adventures with my husband! Wear comfy shoes because it's a decent hike and can get slippery on the rocks. The blowhole views are amazing!!! You will most likely get a little misty with a sandy grime but...More

The weather was crazy windy when we went to see the blowhole, so we didn't get too close. But still breathtaking!!

Scenic views which is just a short walk from the parking area. However not worth driving to if that is your only goal. The west Maui Circle is quite a challenging drive so if you are already on it, the blow hole is definitely worth...More

Although the area was beautiful when we visited, the ocean was extremely calm so the blow hole was not active. We did though see sea turtles.

Blowhole was extraordinary! And the noise it makes was so deep as a big eruption was going off. Make sure you go near the high tide, makes the eruptions at the blow hole more impressive! Walk down there was fine but I wouldn't suggest sandals...More

Wow. The water just explodes up out of that thing. I could have sat there for an hour just watching. Approach from the west. Don't come from the east; that road is very windy and very, very narrow.

Truely magnificent!!! Take time to truely enjoy all of the wonderful views. Don't be stupid and get too close to the edge of the rocks. People die getting to close.

Is the drive from Lahaina easy? I am aware that 340 gets iffy to the East of the blowhole but want to know if the highway to the west of it is still "normal" (2 lanes, etc) and "safe."

Yes, very easy.

Is there a decent view from the parking lot (or safely close by). We have a toddler so I am sure we won't be able to make the complete hike down but I would like to see it a little if possible...

Yes. You can walk a short distance from your car and see the blowhole. Regardless put your toddler in closed toe shoes so he/she doesn't hurt his/her feet on the lava rock.

I was wondering if you thought the hike down was very strenuous and a great distance? I can walk but not long, long distances as my knee is not in the best of shape. I was planning on getting some good shoes for walking. I really want to see this, but was concerned about the difficulty.

The hike is a fairly strenuous one, especially with unstable rocks and steep bits of hillside. You can get a decent view from up top without having to hike down, so I would recommend going that route if you have bad knees... More
