It's Hawaii! Views are stunning and the images pristine. Watching the waves crash ashore makes one so appreciative of the beauty of nature.

Koko Crater Lookout (Lānaʻi Lookout), near Botanical Gardens, Oahu
Nice spot for panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs and crater. There are a few lookouts along this stretch of the highway, all worth a look.

The scenery, rock formations and opportunity to sit and watch the waves and the time pass was time well invested. The color of the water is simply amazing and adds to the scenery. Whether a stop to stretch the legs or a longer visit, the stop is with it.

This area has so many cool places and this for sure is one of them. Amazing rock huge formations and views, have never seen anything like this. For sure a place to stop.

I would suggest not wearing flip flops as it's a bit steep, shoes or sneakers work well. If bringing small children stay towards the parking area as its' steep heading down and up.

Absolutely beautiful, from the shore to the ocean! The lookout offers spectacular views from both sides. Just enjoy the sheer strength of the waves crashing onto the shore!

The Lanai Lookout is definitely worth stopping and checking out. The geologic formations are incredible to see up close and the feeling of exposure to the powerful oceans crashing all around you is awesome. Be careful though, it's very easy to slip and injure yourself or worse!

This was beautiful. We ventured down by the water and got soaked by a rogue wave. All part of the experience. If you are in area, stop by. I wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

I awoke over two hours before sunrise to hopefully capture a nice sunrise at this location I had scoped out earlier along the northeastern shores of Oahu. Lanai Lookout as it is called, is a popular location with limited parking spots (maybe 15-20 ?) off the main road. The state has recently built a solid lava stone fence along the edge of the parking lot in hopes of keeping everyone from exploring down the face of the lookout toward the ocean’s edge. We arrived well before dawn in the pitch dark, long before the State Police got there trying to stop interested photographers from scaling down the lava rock descending down toward the ocean. Although the initial sunrise was nothing to write home about because of the cloud cover, waiting a few more minutes was worth all the effort! WOW!!

Notwithstanding the sign that warns people not to go out beyond the wall, we did, as well as a lot of others. During this time, the tide was not high, and we went up to the portion that acts like another safety wall. The view at this safety wall was fantastic, versus the view behind the parking lot wall. There were some who even went down closer to the sea and that was more foolish, IMO.

Regarding the fear of break in as reported here by others' reviews, when we got to the parking lot, there was a police cruiser with an officer sitting on the driver side. This gave us a secured feeling that the fear of car burglars is common. This same officer did NOT stop anyone from crossing over the wall. This was my basis to also go past the wall. We were there for something like an hour and the police officer did not do anything from those who went past the wall. I believe he was there to prevent those car burglars from doing there thing, maybe. We left and the officer was still there the whole time.

Awesome spot to stop and take pics and enjoy the view. Quite a bit of parking, would recommend checking it out when you're driving along the East Coast.
