We wanted to visit the "north shore" and love driving the coast at that end of the island. Along with the famous beaches are many smaller ones, all very beautiful. Random places to stop and eat along the way.

OMG, This place was stunning. Blue waters everywhere. Sunshine was beautiful. Came here early morning water was so warm. Home of surfing and it feels like a surf place. Lovely people. A Must see.

North shore is a great place to visit. It's touristy and crowded. Go early to get a great parking spot. The food is all great and shops are quaint. Many are over priced but it's what you'd expect from a tourist area. The winds are...More

The surfing on the pipe of the North Shore is mesmerizing. You can sit on the beach with some delicious food from the trucks across the street and get lost in watching the surfurs all afternoon. It's a fun relaxing time.

Attention surfer dudes and dudettes. This is where it's at on Ohau. Huge waves, especially in the winder months. Championship competitions. Worth standing back and just watching in awe. Lots of nice villages on the drive.

A great stop especially if one is staying in Honolulu. Very scenic, much less crowded area. Has open areas which is very pleasant to see. Great beaches and great waves. A great place to get away from most of the tourists and explore.

We actually stayed in waikiki due to a conference but found our way to the North Shore 3 times in that week. It was wonderful there. Much quieter, less crowded, less touristy, and more beautiful beaches to be found there. We went twice when it...More

My husband used to body board when he was stationed at Schofield Barracks, so he took me to place called Three Tables. I was able to capture amazing pictures. If you just want to put your toes in the sand and watch the waves, this...More

Car. It was an easy 2 hour drive from Waikiki and I enjoy stopping when I want. Many busses head that way too, but not sure how much it is. I know PARKING the rental car was MORE EXPENSIVE than the CAR ITSELF! $40 a day at... More

we're a couple in our early thirties n will b spending 3 nights at the turtle bay resort late oct. we will be flying in from maui and returning back to the airport after the 3 nights to catch a midday flight back to Australia. is hiring a car at the airport and driving to North Shore the best option? if so how much can we expect to pay per day to hire a car ? … is it an easy drive from/to the airport? is there any other way we can get there apart from driving? the hotels shuttle bus is extremely pricey. thank you!

Sorry I didn't see this soon enough to help. Hope your trip was enjoyable. I flew into Waikiki and it was a splendid 2 hour drive to North Shore. There were many bus options but I do not know the pricing for them.
