I visited this place all the time as a kid. It's a great walk from Alton to the dam/museum too! In addition to learning about the dam, and taking it the sites around it, this place usually has great activities year-round for kids.

We recently took some of the family here when they were in town for a visit. I think our grown children enjoyed the hands-on exhibits as much as the grandchildren did! We missed the tour but plan to go back and take it in.

I did not expect this Museum to be as interesting as it was. All of the exhibits are interesting and educational. Be sure to take a free tour of the nearby Melvin Price Lock and Dam.

Very educational and entertaining experience. Some hands-on displays and a great gift shop that has a lot for kids as well as a good selection of books on the area. The walk along the dam itself has to be done with a guide. We missed...More

The museum is very informative and interesting. There is a lot of facts about the river that I had no idea about. Definitely a great stop to take the family.
