Main sight here is the palace itself but there are some interesting exhibits of local crafts like period furniture, carpets and ceramics. Adore the marble columns in the patio and have a chat with the friendly staff! ThoughI am not sure if anybody speaks english - better bring your French phrase book.

Alas, our guide could not give us more than half an hour to visit this beautiful place. The building itself as well as the exhibits were a delight, especially the textiles and the ornate jewellery. A working knowledge of French would help individual visitors get the most out of their tour, but the palace is very well worth visiting in... More

"Musee Nationale des Arts et Traditions Populaires" - a small charming museum in the Kasbah of Algiers, not to be missed! The building dates back to the origins of the Kasbah and is currently being restored but is still open to the public. I come from a public gallery/museum background so tend to love didactics and info on what I'm... More

One of the worthwhile visits that I took, it took me down to traditions that are rarely talked about especially after I met an ALgerian lawyer at the museum. It is a pity that there is little written literature in the outside world about Algerian customs and traditions. The main setback is that though there are English transcripts curators on... More

Located close to the Ketchaoua Mosque in the Kasbah. There is a sign off the street directing one to the Museum whose entry is on one of the narrow street. Anyone can direct you to the Museum. Housed in a restored palace, it is beautifully renovated and well worth a visit. The displays are done well. Occasionally there will be... More
