the island is nothing special. however the turtles are. Their age is written on their shells and saw one 190 years old!!! Fed them. They are not captive and are roaming across the island in a segregated area. I believe they are taken good care of. Another interesting thing was peacocks dancing. I saw that for the first time and... More

I hate zoos and i am not vegan or vegetarian but. At first i thought that i will see wild tortoises, but they are actually held inside closed complex where tourists can come and take photos and enjoy animals enslavement for entertainment. Most people are cruel enough to even sit on them even tough it's not allowed, but the tour... More

We had that visit planned, and we can said to have high hopes. We booked a "captain" from our hotel, yet there are plenty that approach you and off to take you across. I believe that bargaining through hotel is the best. We crossed a tranquile sea, and we arrived in a private, semi-abandoned island. At least at the time,... More

Someone suggested I visit Prison island. From start to finish it was a huge disappointment. The prison itself is a complete failure. The one piece of information on its history is washed out and unreadable. The prison offers a boutique, restaurant, a bar and washrooms. No viewing or a cell or information. Oh and a completely unsafe view of the... More

What an amazing opportunity to see giant tortoises up close and what a travesty that they were so poorly looked after. I spent an hour clearing up plastic and rubbish, that I even found one tortoise eating. When I found the manager he acknowledged that this has killed some of these beautiful creatures and whilst there were specifically people employed... More

I had the best birtday ever at Prison Island. We learned a bit about the history of the island, and then we got up&close with the tortoises. They live on the islans and are of all sizes. You can touch them and scratch them behind their feet, which they love. Really cool! After that, when the tide was low, we... More

The staff is a bit sleeping, no one really does anything to give you a good experience unless you have your own tour guide with you. The turtles are really great and a nice experience, but the prison is disappointing since there really isn't anything left of it. Most of the island are closed for the hotel guests only. If... More
