Entoto is a historical place where Menelik II resided and built his palace when he found Addis Ababa 125 years ago.

Road up to Entoto is interesting with nice views on Addis (depending on the weather). The palace from Menelik II was nice and gives a nice impression on how people lived at that time. The museum is attached and here belongings from Menelik II and his wife are on display. Museum has some very interesting old books in Geez. Tour... More

The summer palace and church were not something extraordinary but the road to the hill was very nice and provided some nice outlooks for view of Addis Ababa. There was a service in the church and the guide asked me not to go in. Just walked around looking at the church from outside. The road to this place was the... More

The passage to the Entoto Maryam Church is quite scenic with groves of eucalyptus trees on either side. The view from top may be disappointing as there are chances of mist, haze and clouds to obstruct the view. The breeze ,specially in the mornings, is quite crisp and pure with a hint of Eucalyptus.

The church itself and the palace are not a "must" visit. But do go if you have time. A historical place with lot of relevance but not much substance - no displays in the palace...shows the meager living Menelik. You can see excellent views of Addis as your drive to the top or while descending the hill.

This church is not open and it is unclear about pricing. Read up on it first as limited knowledge and English with guides who were rude. It is only seen from the outside with a small museum and what is labeled as a palace (rustic, not furnished). nice view of the city

The palace of Emperor Menelik and Queen Titu is something that should be on the "must see" list of those visiting Addis Ababa. As others have said, it is a great place to get away from the "big city" feel for a few hours, and to explore some of Ethiopia's rich heritage. Regrettably, there is a "tow-tier" system in place...
