With so much great art in Guinea, the few artifacts of the museum barely scratch the surface. The museum has plenty of space but most of it is used for storage. A beautiful bronze... read more

Like most National Museums in Western Africa, this is a very poor collection of random artifacts... not much interest, I don't think one will learn much, but it can be worth a 5-10min visit since it's pretty much the only cultural attraction in Conakry. On of the displays showed broken pieces of glass bottles, and the description mentionned these were... More

Guinea has a rich tradition of art, masks, fetishs etc. Youmight not know that after visiting here. Don't expect much. There are a few pieces in the mueseum, but nothing that really reflects greatly on the culture. People working there are very nice and I certainly don't begrudge the few dollars. I think if you use it as an excuse... More

It's good. I was starting to think Guinea was gonna bore me. . But.. I found their artwork and I think I like their artworks. And the Port.. they also have a lot of fishes.. of different varieties.. so it's really nice.

With so much great art in Guinea, the few artifacts of the museum barely scratch the surface. The museum has plenty of space but most of it is used for storage. A beautiful bronze lion is hidden in a corner near the crafts workshops and is used only to dry rags on it...

What to say....it is Guinea's only museum, and I visited at the height of the ebola epidemic, so the few visitors it may attract normally were not there. The owner/director opened the museum for me, after looking for the keys for a good 30 minutes. The guide was called in too, and after paying a euro or so entry, I... More

A good museum which was interesting to visit. It is one of the only museums in town so it is worth visiting if you have time.

This place worth the visit on a Sunday. There is not much to do in Conakry, and one may sometime want to see a bit of local history. In the courtyard, there are some exceptional sculptures, the guide is friendly, and you get a better idea of the local culture and history. Go for it!
