I live on one of the slopes of this extinct volcano, which is probably the most popular tourist stop on the island. It is a volcanic crater that is supposedly alive....what i liked about the place is its very scenic....you can spend about half an hour but need to go all the way to South of island to see it. Hence this can be done if you are on a liesure trip. You only find a ice cream or pickled fruit vendor... More

The dormant volcano is seen as a silent killer that could wake up anytime by the Mauritian people. A lake right in the middle of the crater is a stunning sight and must see place. They say that whole of Mauritius was formed by the volcano erupting from the sea. The locals fear the eruption anytime.

Dormant Volcano - nothing much to do. One ice cream van ripping off everyone - 40 rand for a bottle of water - 70 rand for basic ice cream cone - avoid !

Very nice place to visit, you get a nice view of the dormant volcano, also nice place to go for a walk or run even with young children as the place is barred from motor vehicles.
