An absolute must during your time in Dakar. Ibou and his fellow musicians are a truly talented bunch and clearly love what they do. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my drumming session even though i became frustrated at times with my inability to keep up. Ibou, however, is an exceptional instructor and was very patient and encouraging. I was... More

We booked the classes through Anaando Tours, and although we arrived late (not our tour guides fault) the class was a highpoint in our two-day tour around Dakar. My husband was completely enthralled and the group really was helpful to him. A great experience.

I came to Dakar one week ago and it's just a beginning of my drumming adventure with Ibou but I already love it so much. Sineta is a very warm and hospitable host. She surprises me with various and delicious food every day. Her house is spacious, very clean, bug- and mosquito- free and I have an access to my... More

I am in Dakar for a month and recently went to the organic gardens where the African drumming lessons are held. Not only is it a beautiful and relaxing location, the people getting the lessons seemed to be having such fun! I'm too old for all that but the teacher spoke good English and they used several different drums. When... More

'although I didn't participate, I was filming both African drumming and dance as a favor for an acquaintance that was also staying at SenegalStyle B&B Guesthouse. I was really impressed by the professionalism exhibited by both teachers, for African drumming and dance. I would certainly recommend Ibou and his associate to anyone interested in learning more about African culture to... More

Drumming with Ibou and his team was a lot of fun. I enjoyed seeing the community center where they were located, and it was great that after the lesson I got to hang out and listen to the local drumming band play. In the lessons themselves, Ibou and his team were patient and a lot of fun to work with.... More

Lest one think that this is something for the tourist to dabble with, I'm here to say that, no, Ibou and his colleagues can provide experienced musicians with an outstanding opportunity to expand one's musical vocabulary. In my case, I'm mainly an electric and upright bass player so I was comfortable with melody and rhythmic patterns. My exposure to percussion... More

Drumming lessons with Ibou were a big part of my amazing experience in Dakar. Ibou was a wonderful teacher--both patient and encouraging. Playing in the garden was beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of learning three different rhythms. Ibou also connected me with a dance teacher, so I was able to have some dance lessons while Ibou played accompaniment. He... More

Ibu Sene may just be the most skilled and patient music teacher on the planet. 8 novice drummer women traveling on business lucked out when we booked drumming lessons through SenegalStyle. He had us drumming amazingly well after just a couple of hours. We were so pleased we did it twice! Thanks to Sineta and her musical team, it was... More

The drumming lessons with SenegalStyle are a MUST! My friend and I had zero drumming experience, but wanted to try something new. This was SO much fun and our instructor Ibou was a great teacher. Our lessons took place at a cultural center in an organic garden. It was SO cool, can't emphasize enough - whether you've never touched a... More
