I had wanted to visit Joe's gallery for ages, having met him at the wacky Mizizi sounds of the Nile music festival in 2018. What a place - an incredible collection of African ethnographic art from different countries and Joe is a knowledgeable and hospitable curator. I will be back to see some more! We also checked out the stylish apartments he rents out - long or short term in a quiet and green setting only 12km from Kampala. Would be a great base for a peaceful retreat from city life. Thanks Joe 😀

The vibrancy of Kampala plays with all of your senses and, Gallery Antique curated by Joe and his staff, does not disappoint. Joe has masterfully acquired hundreds of authentic antique art pieces from the region and use the entire property to tastefully pepper the compound with artwork. You can find antique shields made of hippos hides, ceremonial masks, head rests, tapestries and many more. Most rewarding and beneficial is the wealth of knowledge and eye for detail which Joe effortless possess, is unparalleled. When in Kampala a visit to Gallery Antique is a must and ask to see Joe’s personal treasures. That’s the cherry on top.

This rare collection of authentic African art is not to be missed on any visit to Kampala!! I've known Joe, the hospitable and extremely knowledgeable collector and gallery proprietor, for many years. He has creatively designed a unique gallery that seamlessly integrates into the natural environment that surrounds it. There are equally beautiful African art-filled guest houses on the gallery site as well. Highly recommend a visit for collectors and people who simply enjoy the beauty of nature and African antiquities!

I have visited the gallery before and have known the owner for many years but time and time again really impressed with the variety and quality of the art he has. Joe is extremely knowledgable and takes time to explain the history of pieces. Bought some small pieces and especially liked these two masks...will be back soon to hopefully buy them! Thank you once agian Joe for the visit!
