I went to Nagarjung Hill entering from Budhanilkantha. Reaching at Nagarjun Hill after 4 hours uphill walking is magnificent. cool weather at hot season and view panoramic mountain from 2,900 miter Nagarjun Hill. Way back visit Nang-Kyi Gumba.

Be prepared for a long walk and enjoy fantastic views of snow covered peaks (need clear weather). Take a lunch and continue to the west side and walk around to the front again -this takes about 6 hours but it is worth it. You must hire a guide - required now.

Nagarjun hill is accessible from two entry points, Swoyambhu and Balaju. We have to pay fee to enter the forest and we have to leave our ID at the checkpost. As we went hiking from Balaju post, we had to return same way as an insurance and safety check of Nepal Army. The hiking route was long and stairs were... More

Natural hiking place. I have been to the top of the hill (Jamacho) many times during winters. Its fun to carry fresh oranges and few snacks, and travel in group of 5-10 friends. It is natural, adventurous, Easy-to-Moderate kind of hiking. You will love the view of Nagarjun Darbar and Kathmandu valley from there.

Went with my colleague and two other young boys from Kathmandu. I have not expected that the first few miles are really an amazing steep way though I was tired but I really enjoyed a lot. Then to the village and even got a good food on my way in a village restaurant. If you are staying long in Kathmandu... More

I like the forest aspect so close to Kathmandu... Don't like that it is costing money just to walk around and feels a little bit 'military' to me. However over all it is quite OK. Not many hiking places close to Kathmandu City so that Is good.

Nagarjun forest is nearest national park from Kathmandu. It is just half an hour drive from thamel. You can see the valley from the top of the hill.
