At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

This attraction offers great views of the city and has a nice shopping mall attached to it for before or after. Plan on 2-3 hours. Wait on elevators can be long.

Have been seeing the countdown fireworks at Taipei 101 and dream of seeing it live. This year a group of friends made my dream come true. Fireworks at Taipei 101 was just breathtaking. I will highly recommend friends to go and watch it live once a lifetime.

Different tall buildings have decent observation areas but this one was really well designed. We couldn't go up to the highest part then, which they had restricted due to cloudy weather, but the "lower" one (on something like the 88th floor) was great. It spanned a large area, with great views, good interactive displays of what was there, and an... More

I brought my ticket from the kkday information centre in ximending which cost 580 TWD. General price is 600 TWD. Ticket inclusive indoor and outdoor observatory deck. Suggest time to visit is around 4pm and stay until 6pm to see sunset view from the tower.

Can't visit Taipei without a stop here. Suggest first thing in the morning (to avoid crowds) or at dusk (to see the sunset). Open air platform is perfect for photos!

Second visit to 101 but did not go up to the top. Previously took longer to get to Taipei 101 but since the MRT extended was very easy (Red line). Originally visited when it first opened and not so commercialised. Lots of high brand labels (LV, Chanel etc), and at 11am queue for Din Tai Fung. We didn't stay long... More

The exterior of the building is impressive and imposing but since it is in the busy city centre, taking a satisfactory full picture of it was not easy. As it was lunch time, we thought we would have lunch first at the ground floor food centre which at that time was already getting very busy. We had a delightful lunch... More
