I cannot explain why Esplanade is such a good location for girl-watching. I do not think that the shopping explains it. As a shopping destination, Esplanade cannot be rated as better than average. The only shops that stick out are the Puma, Asics, and Nike stores. There is usually an open market selling shoes and dresses on the main floor.

There is a McDonald's and a KFC and a Fuji and an Italian restaurant named Scoozi on the basement level. There is also a very cheap place called Santa Fe Steak. The food is barely palatable there, but it is affordable, and the place is very popular among the Thai. Stick to the soups, and order a pork combo. The pork is better than the beef.

You can never go wrong eating at Fuji, of course, though this one is even more crowded than normal, and that is saying something. You will have to wait at least ten minutes to be seated. I rarely have the patience for this, so I generally divert to Scoozi, which is close by. The Italian provender here is adequate, though the prices in this restaurant are pretty arrogant. Still, the wait staff is very good, they invariably seat me in the corner, where they can direct a floor-mounted fan at me to cool me down, and you can get a glass of wine to wind down from a long, hot day.

The cinema on the top floor is the usual Bangkok movie experience, with VIP seats in the back row and reserved seating throughout. There is a VIP lounge to sit in while you wait for movie time, which is nice. There is an ice rink at this mall, which I have never hazarded, but if you have kids, it is something to consider.

Esplanade is nothing if it is not convenient. It has a Boot's pharmacy, and bank branches. There is a decent bookstore where you can buy some very nice, very expensive pens. There is an Apple Authorized computer dealer here, where you can put your paws all over the latest iPhone, MacBook Air, and iPad. The technicians there are wonders: I handed my iPhone to a girl there, it had some sort of software glitch, and she sorted it out in moments, declining all offers of compensation.

You can get ice cream at Swensen's on the main floor. Did I mention that there is a Starbucks?

You can get to Esplanade by taking the Underground to the Thailand Cultural Center station stop. You will have to take the escalators up to the street, and then walk about 100 meters to the mall, as a promised connection to the Underground is still not open, after several years. I have no idea why not.

Finally, the bathrooms are barely marginal. They are not as disgusting as the bathrooms at Grand Central Rama 9 mall, but they fall far short of the best toilets in the city at Terminal 21.

Grab a coffee, buy a movie ticket, watch the girls go by, and buy some necessities at the Tops supermarket in the basement.

Esplanade remains a decent little mall, in a city that has plenty of them.

Hope that this helps. Enjoy.

The usual type of shopping mall you'll get with more locals brands. The popular Rod Fai night market is located behind, and you can cut through the mall, cross the road and head to the night market. Tip: After you are done with shopping at the mall or night market, walk forward ( against traffic) to the nearby AIA buidling to get your GRAB taxi. We trying to Grab for 30min the the mrt exit near Esplanade mall and gave up. Once at the AIA building, we got a cab in 2min.

This mall is just like any other mall. Nothing much they offer.... Just the basics. The food section will be located all the way below the mall.
There is a cinema on the top floor though.
As mentioned, nothing special. Just a simple mall. It's conveniently located next to the "Thailand cultural center" MRT stop.

The Esplanade is located slightly out of the CBD, although easily reached by MRT underground. Just get out at Thailand Cultural Station and follow the signs. It is right by the exits. A better laid out mall than most, made in a semi circle with 8 floors. There are many restaurants and a large Tops Market in the basement, bakeries, coffee shops, yes a Starbucks and Mc Donalds, many clothing shops, beauty shops, a cinema, ice skating rink, bowling alley, and the Ratchadali Music Theatre, that has concerts and broadway plays. I don't think you will find anything here that you can not find elsewhere, but it is an enjoyable mall to walk and dine.

The Esplanade has 7 floors with shops and places to eat and places for entertainment.
The restaurants are located on the lower floors, with most of them being Japanese oriented. I visited several times the Coco Ichibanya and I could say simply perfect!
On the top floors are the Esplanade Cineplex (cinema), a musical theatre (Ratchadalai), bowling and arena for ice-skating.
There is a Tops supermarket on the basement floor.
The Esplanade is just next to the MRT station "Thailand Cultural Centre".
Being not as glitzy as most of the other malls in Bangkok, I think it is still worth a visit, especially if your hotel is close-by.

Great local shopping mall - Caters to all ages - There's a Cinema, mini play land, bookstore, hair and beauty parlours - many skin and anti ageing clinics - beware they are agressive! There's a supermarket, specialty bread stores - restaurants - Hot pots, fast food, Japanese curry house, BBQ, Korean Fried Chicken, Sushi, steak, salad and thai restaurants here. Quite new and the bathrooms clean and well maintained. There's also like a flea market in the middle and in the evening at the back from 5 pm to 10 pm there's a big flea market with food, clothes and interesting things. The subway is just steps from the shopping all.

Very nice mall with lots of food options at basement. We had an early dinner before proceeding to Rod Fai market located right behind the mall.

There’s also a lot of small stalls selling clothes like Rod Fai and pricing are very competitive.

Lastly, try the pushcart stall selling fried chicken right outside mrt entrance.!! My Favourite!!! 😋

This night market is relatively new as compared with other night markets in Bangkok. Easily accessible by MRT and just a short walk through the Esplanade shopping mall. I had read that this was an off-the-beaten-track type of place (a kind of Rot Fai reincarnated) but I bet you that it was not. Clear evidence was seen in numerous selfie phone camera-toting tourists who thronged the place. Much had been said about the place selling retro and non-main stream stuff, but again I found that to be untrue. The food stalls sold basically the same dishes – as of February 2018, the popular dishes were salt-baked grilled fish and BBQ seafood. The goods stalls sold the usual knock-off t-shirts and hand phone accessories. There were numerous pubs, but again in local lingo, they were same-same.

I’m not saying that this was not worth visiting. When the evening weather was forgiving and after a couple of beers, the place was actually quite tolerable. Just know what you are in for.

My family really enjoyed this mall. They have the usual chain stores but int the ground floor atrium area, they also had stalls selling night market type stuff. So you could start your night market shopping here before heading out to the back for more at Rod Fai night market 2. Nice being able to shop in an aircon environment. Food options were also good. Do check out Rod Fai though as the place is just really happening! Interesting items on sale and variety of food options from proper restaurants/pubs (with live band!) to street food style. Loved the vibe so another must visit in Bangkok!
