We made a trip here together with visiting the nearby Wat Suthat on a Sunday morning. Sweating under the hot weather it took us about 20 mins from The Golden Mount to here. One can see a glimpse of the bright red structure while walking along the roads/alleys leading to the City Hall square! The Giant Swing (Sao Ching Cha) was originally erected in 1784 as part of the Brahmin compound of shrines as a religious structure. The poles were erected in 1919 by the Louis T Leonowens Company and subsequently the rickety timbers were replaced by the structure presently. Standing at over 69ft (21 meters) tall, there was a few visitors beside us, took some nice photos and its surrounding. A brief 20 mins stay should suffice.
WE proceed to Chinatown from here which is a station away. .

Not really a swing as others have mentioned. If you are in the area then stop by and take a photograph! Not worth a special trip. Located in the middle of a busy road. Having said the above, this is a religious structure so be mindful of this as locals were praying when we were there.

Not much to see here. Tall, spindly arch which was the frame of a swing. Not much information about it. Doesn’t seem that important to anyone any more to maintain it with the swing in place.

This is a site near a temple that used to have a swing, now, that swing is gone and just the giant red frame of where the swing was is left. Not much to see there frankly, surely not worth seeking out, worth maybe 5 minutes if you are in the area but not much more. Worth a few photos and then you can be on your way. This swing is in all the tourbooks for historical purposes and has no real visual value or purpose now.

nothing much to see really, our tour van just passed by it so i did not get to really see it properly. There is no swing on it anymore, since it was deemed to be dangerous.
Maybe worth visiting if you are really near the area.

This is quite an outstanding feature sitting alone in its own space. Very majestic. But what makes this so extra special it that it lies opposite the entrance of the magnificent Wat Suthat temple. This had a wow factor it really did I hope by seeing the attached pictures you are lured into this very humble space.

This is part of the old Hindu traditional festival. Now it's not used. This was construed by the King.

It is not a must see place but is close to some other good attractions of Bangkok. You may skip it but if someone plans to just wander around in areas of Bangkok (Khaosan Road), I don't think one will mind visiting it. It is not an extra ordinary place.
