This hidden gem is totally free and showcases a wide variety of mostly special edition silver and gold commemorative coins with a few cases of historic coins and local memorabilia. The staff were very friendly and courteous.

My unplanned visit started on a warm afternoon as I was waiting for a massage appointment. Entrance was free, shoes off at the front door and a climb up some steps led me to the museum level on the second floor. There were some interesting coins on display, as well as some maps describing the history of the region and... More

I am almost certain those who made it to this small museum are numismatic geeks. There was some confusion when I was trying to locate the museum because various tourist information websites (official & unofficial) assigned different names to it, namely The Treasury Pavilion, Chiangmai Numismatic Museum and the Coin Museum. The museum is quite small. It took me less... More

I am interested in numismatics and decided to visit this small museum on a Saturday morning. Truthfully, it was just OK with most of the collection dedicated to modern commemoratives featuring the royal family. A second area of the museum upstairs focuses on the history of Thai coinage. This was certainly more interesting to me, but I found the collection... More
