Within a 10-day introductory course in Vipassana meditation, I was given the chance to discover inner fears and challenges to overcome, as well as amazingly intense feelings of love and gratitude. I came to the temple twice after the course, as I was presented with additional challenges in the daily life outside of the temple, following my meditation evolvement. I... More

I've had the occasion to visit Wat Rampoeng about once a month for the past several years. While I haven't taken part in their meditation course, I do feel some duty to provide context for the other reviews here. The first thing to understand is that this is not the low-key ascetic environment you'd believe from the reviews and promotions.... More

Perfect place to go and calm your mind. Have been travelling to and from places so went in with quite a busy mind and not really any meditation experience. Have left feeling a lot more aware of my thoughts and feelings. First few days are quite tough, as they are long days. Food is really nice, something different each day.... More

This review is of the Vipassana Retreat held at Wat Ram Poeng for foreigners. The silent retreat is challenging as you are required to do sitting and walking meditation for 8-12 hours per day, sleep 6 hours or less, rise at 4 am and not eat after noon. My suggestion would be to read all the information on the website... More

Popular meditation centre with both Thais and foreigners. A lot of rebuilding works going on (July 2016) to expand the temple with one new sermon hall completed and a second (the old hall) half finished. Not sure how the construction affects the meditation but temple seemed less busy than on previous year's visit. Great temple situated in woodland with ancient... More

I stayed at the temple for a 10 days retreatment which I really enjoyed. A strict day but still the possibility to organize your meditation day as it is the best for you. The only reason why I give 4 points is the fact that you did not receive any further information about Buddhism or maybe about the monks' life... More

The 10 days meditation courses was life changing, no other word. The context is perfect for discovering meditation, perfectly balanced: not much non local student but just enough facilities (persons speaking english). If you want to discover meditation, it is the perfect place.

I have meditated at a few places in Northern Thailand, and this is by far the best. But don't come here knowing nothing about Vipassana, because it will not be explained in great detail. Study up on it a bit beforehand. Some people here really excel a lot and others can find it challenging. The teachers here are very good,... More

It is a well internationally respected Meditation Centre with seperate rooms for men and women. I went before and it was just as good this time. They still leave it to u to decide how much to donate ,the courses are 10 and 30 day-I went for the 10 day again.
