This is the furniture/handicrafts village non plus ultra for Northern Thailand. Most of the stuff you see in night markets anywhere in Thailand is from this area.Furniture/souvenirs/wood/lights/lamps you name it they make it.Do discuss the price but take time and stroll around.Again either go early or late after the tour buses.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must tell you that I live in Chiang Mai. OK, I've bought some good, well-built furniture here. Home accessories, too. The prices are actually quite reasonable considering the quality. Bargaining politely is acceptable. Shipping inside and outside of Thailand can be arranged. There's lots to see. There are also places to eat and... More

Loved it here, all sorts of little wooden things which you could often see being made. Some beautiful furniture which, if you were prepared to ship, would be brilliant to have in your home or garden. Very reasonable prices, cheaper than the Night Bazaar! ...and you knew the people were getting the money!

This was an unexpectedly interesting place. If only some of the handmade furniture and lighting could be packed away in my suitcase. 😊While staying in Chiang Mai we hired a car through our hotel since the village was a ways out of town. (Who knew it would only cost $12 American to hire the car and driver for the entire... More

I hired a Red Taxi for this trip, about four hours total for $700.00 Baht. My driver , Sean was so good to me since I use a cane walking. After shopping in the Tourist market, Sean drove slowly by all the shops for me to see whole village. We stopped at the most famous wood carvers shop, i believe... More

The main attraction of this area is the Wood crafts. The workmanship is beautiful. There is small to large pieces of wood furniture. Also worth checking out is a great little jewelry shop called B Gems. The parents come to the Tucson Gem Show, which is how I found out about their little shop in Baan Tawai Village. It is... More

If you like handicrafts, furniture, beautiful wood carvings, fabrics, and all kinds of handmade crafts, this is the place to go. You could spend the whole day there and not begin to see it all. Over the years, I have bought many things there. If you are in the import business, buying for export, this is a great place t... More
