Went to Basil Cookery School Jan 2016 with a friend. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the market. It was a cook experience to see the local market. From there we went to the cooking school. It was clean and cozy. The teacher was great, very friendly, and spoke english well. The food was amazing. Every... More

We picked this one on short notice. A big part was that it was an evening school. Chef Pim met us in the market. She had a ton of knowledge on food and a great sense of humor. She really made this fun! After a brief market tour we headed to the school that was in what I think is... More

My wife an I took this class in November in Chiang Mai. It was a wonderful class and included a lot for the price. Our instructor was Pem and she was awesome! She was very friendly and helpful and made the class more fun. She also helped us with substitute ingredients just in case we couldn't find them back home.... More

We booked the morning of via our hostel's phone for 3 people and got the evening session (they have daytime or evening cooking classes). We were a group of 7, our teacher Pim was energetic and bubbly. She took us to a big outdoor market to give us explanations on the fruits, veggies, sauces and spices we were going to... More

We were first taken to the market, where our friendly teacher explained the herbs, vegetables and fruit used in Thai cooking. Then onto the school. There were 3 of us and we cooked 18 different dishes. 6 each. The school had 8 cooking stations. Everything was well equipped. It was a wonderful experience

I have been wanting to do a cooking experience for a while but got to try it only in Chiang Mai. Tom was very responsive on email though we did a last minute booking. He was knowledgeable, friendly and managed the time very well as we never felt rushed. We cooked 6 dishes and enjoyed it. The small group of... More

I've been a skeptic of tourist cooking experiences, but tried it out for the first time and enjoyed it to bits. Tom the instructor was very knowledgable, engaging and made sure every one had a good time. Group of 7 was just the right size to get personal time and good conversation going across the table. I'll recommend Basil, and... More

There were both good and bad comments about this school. I chose it as the course menu include 6 dishes, and they could arrange pick-up in Nimman area. I joined the evening class. We had a market visit before going to the school. The instructor gave us an interesting introduction about different ingredients. The school was in an apartment; its... More

I took an evening class, and it was one of the highlights of my visit to Chiang Mai. They picked me up at my guest house, and I quickly got to know the other 5 people in the van. We went to the market, where one of the instructors gave us an introduction to various ingredients. Then we went to... More
