YES!!! Absolutely you can and very easy. Negotiate hard for a private car to take you directly to place where boats set off for Tam Coc. There's absolutely nothing to do there aside from the obvious boat trip and wander... More

Afraid not. But it was truly beautiful when we were there in Oct. I suggest you check out my review of Tam Coc. In summar - no need for taking a paid tour.
