If you'd like to buy silk fabric then make sure and visit Van Phuc. They also have scarves, and other clothing but one of my goals in visiting was fabric and I found a lovely selection here.

If you have some extra time to kill while you're in Hanoi - the silk village is a nice trip. It's not too far away and the drive is a scenic one of the city. I would recommend that you spend 2 hours there. You...More

We were greatly disappointed at what the silk village has to offer. Shops all selling almost same things . Poor design and price not great either. Not worth the visit.

It was interesting to see how silk is made. I had no idea the amount of labor involved. I wisely left my credit card in the car. This was my second time in Hanoi. I would not recommend this if time is limited. There are...More

We visited the silk village this month and saw some amazing offers for silk ties and pashminas! You just need to check almost every shop in order to find the right quality- really worth the effort going there.

More shops and pretty things to buy than anyone could dream of!!! Prices are VERY affordable. I enjoyed the history of silk and watching the looms.

No need to organize in advance. I got chatting with an amputee by the lake and she took me there in the local busses, which is the cheapest way to go. But any taxi will take you there.
