Hang Hai is the epitome of what made Hanoi my favorite city in Vietnam. There is action all around you, something to see everywhere. There are dozens and dozens of wonderful shops along this street, displaying colorful fabrics, art, and souvenirs. One of our favorite things to find were the pop-up cards made from cut paper. We were able to... More

This is the street devoted to fabric and clothing shops. One of my favorite shops, Tan My, has opened another shop across the street from its original one. They have wonderful hand embroidered sheets and duvet covers for reasonable prices, as well as men's and women's clothing. The rest of the shops along the street have a range of high... More

There are a lot of shops along Hang Gai Street, mostly shirt shops selling similar items between one shop and the others. Good experience to walk one or two times just to have a feel of the place.

I loved it my hotel Noble Boutique was in the heart of it and it was absolutely amazing - no harassment from locals and vendors, the massage parlours are expensive but clean and you get a 20% discount depending on which one you use. Plenty of quality silk shopping to be done - kimonos, suits, scarves and cutlery it is... More

When in the Old Quarter, you must visit Hang Gai Street, or silk street. It also has some nice boutiques and art galleries. You may pay a little more but it saves the hassle of bargaining with a ateeet vendor. It seems to be a Main Street in the Old Quarter.

There are many silk shops here, all with very persistent staff, eager to help you try on every garment in their shops until you are happy to open your wallet. It can be hard to know which store to pick -- but remember to bargain whichever you choose. Look willing to walk away, and their prices quickly turn into 'make... More

Definitely check this out. Nice cosy stores everywhere. You can buy your postcards, souvenirs, handicrafts and homewares here. Nice boutique hotels here as well. Go to the top of the shop buildings to have an overview of the Hoan Kiem Lake. Nice!

In the mayhem of Hanoi traffic , it was a relief to be able to use the convenience of traffic lights - although not always obeyed by bikes. Good quality hotels and shopping.

We spent several hours roaming the many streets of the Old Quarter (we stayed in Hang Bac Street) and found them all interesting, with the different themes of each one being quite obvious in many of them.
