Ridiculously crowded. I didn't feel any atmosphere at all. I was disappointed and wouldn't stay in the Old Quarter again.

Lovely area to walk around and get a true feel of Hanoi and its People and culture. Great Street food! Stay away from street doughnuts. But other than that all positive!

Take some time to discover the little streets across the old quarter, their shops, their colors and their people. One of the best places in the city!

This is a very interesting district, and close to everything. We found it much easier getting around than in similar areas in Bangkok.

Very clean hostel with great staff and great facilities. Major plus that there's a free breakfast with lots of options and free Wifi. Location is perfect, but you do have to be quiet past 11pm so it's definitely not a party hostel. Rooms were of...More

Loved the old quarter. You should stay here if you want the real Vietnam, not the modern one. So many interesting shops

Wandering around the Old Quarter may be intimidating for a first timer but its worth it to see the hustle and bustle of life in Hanoi. I went as part of a Street Food by Night tour with Urban Adventures and also by myself later.

We stayed in the Old quarter for 3 days in july. It is a very interesting place with lots of tasty street food, many local vendors and active nightlife. On the other hand the moped honking can drive you crazy

There's loads of places for a beer. There's a couple of places right on the lakeside and plenty of places overlooking the lake. Lots of cafes/bars/ restaurants around the streets.
