If you're visiting the Old Quarter for a relaxing time, you have come to the wrong place! Countless scooters, constant hooting of horns and people frequently asking you to buy their products. However, just calm down and soak it all up....this is a vibrant place that will continue to surprise and excite you.

Loved this location as they closed the streets down around the lake on the weekends and therefore it became a real family gathering spot for musicians , dance clubs , kids on scooters etc it was fantastic to see families all out enjoying themselves without the interference of the traffic.

A must visit part of Hanoi, if you can cross the road safely that is! So many mopeds! Lots of interesting shops, places to eat and things to see.

If you have never visited the Far East before this will blow your mind. The motor bikes take over the pavements, road and any space around the Aladdin caved type shops all over the area. Go with the flow, relax but watch first then go for it when crossing the road or sit in a coffee shop and watch the world... More

Imagine narrow roads with very dense traffic, which gets even worse due to an absence of traffic lights or rules. Pedestrians have to risk every time they cross the streets which happen every 3-5 minutes. It is totally normal for locals but for foreigners who come from places with strict traffic rules. The head starts paining after 30 minutes of... More

Loved walking around this area - every street had different sights and smells. All hustle and bustle and easy to get lost! Great at night when the lights come on. So many shops and restaurants.

Fascinating place to be, even to just watch the world go by. Traders DO take No for an answer just be polite. When crossing the roads just keep going or you wont get there. Loved it.

Old quarter is a buzzling market and shopping area for locals and tourists as well. Motorbikers come from all directions, it is better to watch all directions before you cross the street. The shops are cheaper than eslewhere, and lots of locals have their dinner on the streets, making it a bit difficult to walk along the sideways. A must... More
