Sure a little crazy with lots of motorbikes & people but it's fun, vibrant, rich with local culture & charm. Easy & safe to walk through all the various neighborhoods day & night. Take a motorbike taxi at least once to get a different perspective & to feel how the residents maneuver the traffic. Enjoy all the food & restaurant... More

Its an interesting walk. We went on a rainy day so it was muddy. Be careful of the many scooters and moto bikes whizzing past you. Be watchful of your belongings. The streets are crowded and anything can happen. Many shopping places along the narrow streets. Bargain with a smile. If you hit it right you can get almost 40-50%... More

The old quarter gives you the feel of complete Vietnam. You can walk along the streets for hours and yet not be bored. The shops ranges from lanterns, souvenirs to garments and jewelleries. The spas are fantastic there and you can get the taste of all varieties of Vietnamese cuisine. Its better to bargain.

Although I did find some great clothes n souvenirs ( beware of the fake brands) it does get very annoying when youre just passing through and vendors keep trying to sell you stuff

For a newcomer to the Far East this will be culture shock big-time, but full of interest, colour, smell, and everything money can buy. I now admit to being exhausted by the noise, clamour of people, and incessant crowds. To me this is an urban jungle...and what the world will all be like if we don't control population growth. There... More

This is an extraordinary place to start a vacation in Vietnam. Lots of shops with excellent pricing as long as you haggle. The whole place reminds me of a street market . Tons of street food not my thing as I can't stand seeing all the dishes washed in a small plastic dishpan . Yuk! There are other restaurants though... More

If you want get mauled by a horde of crazy moppets motorcycles this is the place to go. Otherwise the shopping is not worth the noise and the pollution. Yes you can find good deals but the same stuff than anywhere else.
