We'd found mixed reviews on the West Lake but decided to check it out anyway. Had a few good photo opportunities and we managed to flag down a mini electric car and offered them 200,000 to take us both around the lake (took about an...More

A nice space where people come to relax and often cycle around. Hanoi Bicycle Collective is on the lake and have great service. Good to sit and drink coffee and later Bia Hoi (fresh draft beer) which is very cheap

Allow a minimum time to see this place - it is very interesting. We made our arrangements with Hanoi Transfer Service on our private one day tour.

I didn't traverse the entirety of West Lake (Tay Ho), but I did check out the smaller Truc Bac area and then walked north along the lake from there at night. It was lovely.

Our hotel overlooked the lake, lovely to walk around and a good selection of bars and restaurants overlooking it, great to sit and watch the world going by.

I visit this area for work and I am not sure I would recommend it specifically as a tourist visit. The lake is massive but not especially photogenic. It is a popular area for ex pats to live but does not attract many day visitors.

It was also a monumental walk out here along busy roads from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The temple in the middle is nice, but recommend getting there via taxi.

For me, I prefer to rent a bike or take a cyclo(about 5 USD/ hour) to go around the lake. This season, the weather is good for walking as well. There is a nice flower market near by West Lake I've always loved to visit... More
