Lovely

So pretty to photograph and walk the entire lake around. A sanctuary from the chaotic traffic. Good place to picnic and watch the passers by. Grab a glorious Viet coffee.

You need to find someone who can explained the history behind why the tower is even there to understand why it's in the middle of lake. Nice lake just to chill out for awhile.

The lake is beautiful but bit polluted sadly, it is awesome to walk around on the weekend's as the streets are closed around it and full of bustling children and their parents tearing around on bicycles that you rent. Great carnival atmosphere with food sellers, well worth a visit on the weekend. Try a Bo Beir ( are yummy Street... More

We enjoyed to go for walk around the lake in the evenings to get away from cramped madness. The tower is interesting and can be on something to do list, where you will find out about the story behind it, which was quite fun

Middle of the lake and a magnificent site to visit. It's a site to watch during the sun set and sit through the night.

Yep that’s about it, you can’t visit it, you can barely see it, it just sits there on an island in the middle of the lake, I think we glanced at it for about 10 seconds

It is about the experience of being near it. Yes, it's small, rather humble looking in a gray dilapidated sort of "historical" way, but the walk around the lake is pretty. People actually smile at you (at least the Asians do), young Vietnamese students want to practice their English with you. At night the tower is lit up and for... More

The Thap Rua Tower is located in the lake and you will need a pretty good camera if you want to have some close up pictures. As many others has stated the best time to see the little tower is when it is lit up in the evening where is looks more attractive standing there alone in the middle of... More

Walk around the lake during the day and night on the weekends for good views. There are plenty of activities to watch.

Apparently a big turtle lives here...lol. No access to Island, just looks nice. Nice retaraunts to eat at close by. Good ice cream treats available too. Pleasant relaxing area. Free of charge to see. Right in Old Quarter. Close to all shopping, etc.
