Went in quite hesitantly thinking this was just another tourist trap attraction, but was not disappointed at our evening here! The puppet show is so fun, even if you have no idea what is going on, (theres a story in there somewhere - apparently) and you can see the love that goes into each show from the smiling band and... Purchased tickets through our guide. Was not super keen as it could be boring but it was anything but. There were live musicians accompanying the actual performance. The show was split into difference acts and with music and occasional Vietnamese commentary which nobody understood however it did not matter as the performance of the puppets was superb. A very noisy... More

We got tickets at our hotel and took a taxi through the bustling streets at Tet. Water Puppetry is a traditional and ancient Vietnamese folk art. The theatre is comfortable with good views of the show. The musicians bring the whole show to life and you don't need to understand the language to enjoy the antics of the puppets. If... More

First time I saw water puppet show. Enjoyed it. It was very difficult to get a ticket for entry. I rang number of times was told full for next few days. Luckily I talked to the hotel employee and he managed to get two tickets for us. The seats were on second row. Anyone wanting to see the puppet show... More

Novel presentation of local stories by skilled puppeteers and backed up by a traditional 6 piece ‘orchestra’ who also provide the voices – it is all in Vietnamese - the stories are easy to follow but before you go in grab a programme in several languages including English as this sets out the scenes with explanatory titles – good fun... The entire show takes about 45 minutes and it is simply amazing to see the way that they control the movement of puppets, so synchronized and in tune with the music played by the live musicians. However, the songs and conversations are all in Vietnamese. Unless you understand the language, you will only be watching the movements of the puppets... More

Seeing the show was a highlight to our trip. It would have been perfect if it was translated in English. ☺

Coming from Indonesia, where many type of puppets are well-known to the workd, I am still amazed by this water puppet show in Rong Yang. As the player of the puppets maybe using some hoses to breathe underwater at the time they move the puppets. Such a creative arts!!! A must for a visit to Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh especially.... More

I went with family with my husband and 1 year old son. My son LOVED this show. He was constantly awed by the sudden dolls that would pop up from behind the banana leaf curtain. I didn't understand a thing but enjoyed the show as well. Me and my son sat waayy behind but when all the visitors were already... More

I was very excited to see this, but when i bought the tickets and went inside saw the entire place was full. Only to realize afterwards that it was in the local language and there were no translations.Nowhere it was mentioned that it would be in Vietnamese.
