Market tour was very nice and informative, and also a small group, which made it easier to ask questions. Our guide was friendly and easy to understand. The cooking class was fun and we loved eating what we had cooked. Especially fun was learning not just new foods but also using new cooking tools and frying our own spring rolls and birds nest noodles. The class was run very smoothly with lots of helpers to clean up and keep us on schedule but never felt rushed. Loved the air conditioning, iced tea and recipes to take home at the end.

This cooking class was the greatest! Especially to learn about the history of each item used before cooking with it. We did 3 dishes, fresh spring rolls, green mango & bbq chicken salad, and lotus fried rice. So so so so yummy! The chef was great with instructing and we added a wine pairing to our meal as well.

Start with a market tour to get the ingredients before heading to the classroom - it’s the best way to see all the ingredients before you start. The class itself is informative and very hands on, and gives a clear understanding of the flavours of Vietnamese cuisine

We (5 of us) spent a lovely Sunday morning going to a market and then cooking a delicious lunch with Chef Ly. Very clear directions and logistics, and we learned to make - and enjoy! - a wonderful 3-course meal (plus dessert) ourselves. A very worthwhile experience and way to absorb local food culture in HCMC.
(It’s part of the Hoa Tuc Restaurant where we also had an excellent dinner experience earlier in the week.)

We took this cooking class and market tour through Viking. Our guide met us at the market and showed us many of the foods we would be cooking with. At the cooking school we each had a propane cooktop, all the utensils needed to cook, and the ingredients we would need. Our chef was understandable and went through each step. We made a sour soup, a pork and shrimp salad, and chicken in a clay pot. It was fun to eat the food after we cooked it. We were sent home with the recipes in a little booklet. I have made one of the recipes at home. It really is reminiscent of the tastes of Vietnam. I would definitely reccomend doing this!

I live in Hanoi and have done cooking classes before, tried this one while in Saigon today with a friend. Wing was our instructor. It was clean, yummy, educational, fun and a great value.
This cooking class has been both the best one I have been to & the best price as well. Don’t miss it during your trip to Saigon. If cooking and eating are your thing this will be a pleasant experience.

Ly the cooking instructor was great, the session was well planned and the food turned out delicious. The market tour was okay, nothing one way or the other. The bad part was getting from the market to the cooking classroom. We spent about an hour in a taxi only to get out and walk the final 10 mins. The kicker was we were only a 10 min walk from the market in the first place.

Dear Richard,
We read that you enjoyed the quality of the class, the instructor Chef Ly and the food, thank for writting this.
However we are rated 3 stars because of traffic jam on that day.
As we explained to you, on the day of your booking the transport from the market to our cooking school even very short usualy has been dramaticaly affected by a government military exercise. This means: Military = no warning = no body know = big surprise for everyone.
Trung the Chef's assistant tried to find a way by taxi but some streets to reach our place were closed to both driving and walking... So at the end he tried different streets and a short part to end walking. It was completely not under our hands.
Our team feels biterness in this article that makes us feel this was our decision while this problem of transportation because of streets closed wasn't, again, under our control.
All the best
Our team.
