The magnificent mansion of Tagliev, converted into an all inclusive museum of Azerbaijan, is definitely worth an hour. It has a lot of well presented information in English on various subjects - not only history. Religion, culture, handicrafts, oil just to name a few. The...More

The oil barons of Baku were so rich at the turn of the century that they could afford totally astonishing houses like this one. The first part of the tour is an interesting enough history of Baku, but for me the highlight was the second...More

Anyone whoever comes to Baku must see Taghiyev's house because Azerbaijan is famous with its oil and Taghiyev was national industrial magnate and philanthropist.

This museum gives a really good overview of Azerbaijans history (perhaps with a slight political slant). It is definitely worth getting a tour guide. Our guide spent two hours with us and was enthusiatic and reqlly into the material. Definitely worth a visit

A beautiful place, yet again history of other nations is blatantly and deliberately used to create a new ancient Azerbaijan. I could write a 1000 page critical review, but I was stunned at the revisionism and claims on the history & culture of neighboring nations

This museum takes you back into ancient times and then slowly, century by century brings you to modern Azerbaijan. Comprehensive exhibitions, cheap to visit. I would allow about 2 hours for the visit
