A glimpse of Zamindar bari. The new museum in its premises hold some of the things used by people in Bengal in the past. You will get to see the Moslin cloth, a cloth so thin that you can got a Moslin Saree in a matchbox. And you will get to see how a Zamdani Saree and our very famous... More

Nice historical place with palace, museum, nature. Reminds you the rule of Baro Bhuyan. Don't forget to visit the nearby ancient Panam City.

15th century several structures. These includes a Palace, a Museum, several bridges, ponds and small town. The rulers were called Baro Bhuya (12 landlords) from Muslim Rajpot who were preventing Mughal empires to expand into Bengal. Isa Kha was most prominent among them. The structures are in good shape. Anyone, who likes historical place will like these place.

Although in decay, many impressive buildings. It makes us humble to know that this was the fisrt Bengal capital and that today times have gone by.

Get there early in the morning, before 9, when the school groups appear and take away somewhat from the magic of the deserted colonial buildings. Beautiful mansions slowly decaying, offering great photo opportunities.

My friend lives in Dhaka and I went to visit in February of this year. We took a day trip to Panam City....WOW! Incredibly beautiful historic site. One can imagine what these buildings must have been like back in the day... We went early in the morning, and for the most part had the entire site to ourselves. The local... More

Though a decent road trip from Dhaka, this gem of Bengali history is well worth the drive. There are actually two portions of Sonargaon in Narayanganj. One portion is more touristy and features the palace, which is currently being renovated, and a museum. This first area has been converted into a fairground of sorts which is pleasant, but it's really... More

Definitely come through here while in Dhaka. About a good 45 minute drive out of the big city. This site was one of my favorite places to visit. The museum grounds and building were beautiful to see but the old city was a treat. You can feel what once was a booming town filled with life. Beautiful two story buildings... More

The museum and the wreckage of the old architecture consists the old capital. The town is situated at the outskirts of Dhaka and takes about an hour to reach there. The place depicts the ancient history, culture and architecture of the former Bengal. The place is definite to get a place in your destination list.
