About
Welcome to the Mad Monkey Hostels Tours. During the day visit the Mad Monkey and jump on one of our Tuk Tuk tours out to the killing fields and S21, pay a fair price for your tour to the Tuk Tuk driver for a half day tour of both facilities. Then join us for dinner and then at night time do something positive. Then in the evening do something positive by attending our crawl for School event. The Crawl for School is a weekly pub crawl designed for young tourists and backpackers. Wrist bands cost $5 and provide you half priced drinks all night, 100% of your $5 wristband is used to fund education projects for poor kids in Cambodia. The event starts at the Mad Monkey rooftop bar in Phnom Penh every Thursday night, then hits Top Banana and Love Bar. It is great night out and a great way to donate to kids education in Cambodia. Tuk Tuk tour of the killing fields $12 - $15 (Depending on number of people) Eat at The Mad Monkey restaurant wide menu with prices starting between $4 and $10 per plate. Cocktails at our rooftop bar! Join the party and buy a wrist band from $5 per person.

An absolutely gut wrenching experience.
My heart was breaking for those that suffered at the hands of the evil and Sadistic Pol Pot.
I can’t believe that this occurred in my life time -
Grab the audio guide as it explains everything in detail.
This is a must visit whilst in Phenom Penh

Some people in my tour group skipped this visit as they expected it to be too harrowing and also disrespectful to go simply as a tourist. I went. They were wrong.
Yes, the sights and stories are difficult to take but the Cambodians want everyone to be educated on what went on under the Pol Pot regime. It is not intrusive or disrespectful to come here. It is very moving and one part in particular at the tree is truly, jaw-droppingly terrible. But I am so much better informed now and glad I went.
A shout out to my guide too. It was just as harrowing for him, being directly affected and losing family members, however, he stayed professional and calm throughout, which I would have found hard to do in his position.

Our guide, Martin, had the perfect balance between providing information and allowing time to look around. Well worth visiting.

Went with Martin from Intrepid tours. Excellent guide with great knowledge. It is a harrowing experience to visit both the killing fields and S21 museum but important for everyone to know what happened to the people of Cambodia. Highly recommend Martin as a guide

This place tells a powerful story in a circumspect way. It's not slick , but rather simple with a very helpful audio tour that gives you a good feel for the events that transpired there. Well worth a visit.

it was a sad place to visit, knowing how much suffering went on for so many innocent people. but it was very informative. There are survivors selling books occasionally. I would 100% purchasing one to read. it's very interesting.

So hard to believe the brutality and scale of the genocide and that it happened in our lifetime. Sam shared his personal story and you can clearly see the impact on both him and his country, we understand the history much better now.

The audio guide is highly recommended. Choose your language and off you go. The directions are explicit so you know exactly where to stand when listening to each stop. It is informative and gives pre warnings to content that may disturb some people.

This is a hard place to visit, but should be on everyones agenda as it reminds us all how evil man can be and so recently!!! The audio tour is very well done and worth doing, as it brings what could otherwise be a relatively simple area into horrifying focus. I met a child survivor whose whole family had been killed by the KR and came away very moved by the whole experience - will man ever learn !?!
