For years I have wanted to visit Long Cheng, north of Vientiane, in central Laos. Long Cheng village is in an isolated valley in Xaysomboun Province. It is of interest to me because of its historical significance: it was the former CIA/Air America base and headquarters for General Vang Pao and his Hmong Army during the 'Secret War' in Laos... We booked the tour to the Num Ngum Dam. It cost us around Aus$ 480.- but that was because it was only two of us. If you get a larger group together it will be a lot cheaper per person. It was great and the guide was very knowledgeable and we stopped at a couple of market and other sites... More

I found all correspondence with Green discovery prior to the trip to be fast and helpful. We booked a 2day tour but had to change it to a 1day tour last minute due to illness and they gave us a full refund of the difference. The tour itself was quite pricey but was well organised and the guides and lunch... More

Advertise that they have "people already booked" on a bunch of tours on a board outside but quoted the pretty astronomical private tour price when I asked how much. When I pointed that out the guy shrugged and admitted they just put the sign out to get people to come in. Which isn't exactly uncommon or surprising in this part... More

First of all the comments are not towards the guides that accompanied us as I think a lot of the negatives were out of their control. We did the full day biking and kayaking excursion. The bikes were in terrible condition to the point of being unsafe. We refused to take one of them and had to go to a... More

I was fearful as a solo traveller but the guide Noy and driver Hou were more like friends soon as the trip begun. tailoring the days activities to suit my interests. excellent service. didn't have to think about the... With 3 days to spend in Vientiane and wanting to see a few sights in particular we went looking for a tour company to talk to. I had read about Green Discovery previously including their website but wasn't sure they could meet our needs. They have a lot more options than on their website and we ended up doing 2... More

First of all, I would not recommend this trip in March or April. We went there in early April, and it was blistering hot. First day we were transferred to the park, and started with a nice boat ride, which unfortunately had to be cut short, since the water level was too low thanks to the new dam they built.... More
