Landmark in Vientiane, but worth a visit. Makes beautiful photos! Unfortunately you are not allowed to go to the top floor anymore, pity.

Pedal here on a bicycle, walk to the top for a view of the rather unattractive capital of Laos, then pedal another kilometre to a sprawling wat.

Take the time to climb to the very top of the monument, there are great views of the surounding city and park. On the ground floor don't miss the intricate ceiling of the arch.

We enjoyed walking to the very top of this structure. Couldn't believe we were allowed to climb to the very top & so cheap to do so

I first passed by the monument in when I was in Vientiane on day one of my trip. It was in the evening and it looked beautiful with all its lighting. I'd only had a chance to visit the monument just hours before I left for the airport. Standing under the structure, one can see the intricate designs on the... More

Victory Gate or Gate of Triumph, was built by French. The monument, as built, has gateways on four sides oriented towards the four cardinal directions. The East-West gateways open to the Long Xang Avenue, which is used during ceremonial national parades. In front of each gate, there is a pond. The four ponds represent the open section of a lotus... Well, it is a landmark here so you really need to see it. No need to compare with other L'Arc in other part of the world. This one is unique as the way it is. Also, beautifully illuminated at night

Located in Patuxai Park this building does have a resemblance to the Arc de Triumphe. Rather plain inside with small shops, it is worth climbing the steps to get a nice view over Vientiane. Patuxai Park is also very nice and well kept and a nice place to have a stroll amongst the lawns and flowers and have a seat... More

Memories of Paris. Nothing much around it though. 3000 to go to the top. Views not spectacular but why not

Visited this during our tuk tuk trip around the sights of Vientiane. Beautiful well-kept Patuxai Park with Peace Gong - worth a look. Lots of shady seats. Patuxai Monument itself situated behind a large ornamental pond with views down a very grand avenue. Beautiful decorated ceiling. Small souvenir shop. Good views from the top, I am assured, but narrow dark... More
