About
Chinggis Khaan Statute complex is situated 54 km from Ulaanbaatar City, with the view of beautiful natural scenery on the bank of the Tuul River, a historical place where Chinggis khan’s golden whip was found. Today, for a memory of the man of the millennium, a 40 meters high stainless steel statue of Chinggis Khaan on a horseback is the largest among the statues in the world. Inside the statue we operate a restaurant, souvenir shop, two museums and conference hall. Visitors can go up the statue using the elevator or the stairs to the head of the horse where they can have a panoramic view of the beautiful landscape.

You may take an elevator upstairs and enjoy spectacular view from Chinggis Khaan’s horse’s back. Interesting museum downstairs. Souvenirs shops and restaurant available too.Visited January 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 January 2023
- marstar0109Seoul, South Korea300 contributionsImpressive and worth a visitPersonally I enjoyed the visit very much. And the fact that you can get inside the statue and go up to the observation deck is also great. It shines beautifully in winter sun and the white snowy surrounding makes it even more beautiful. Impressive and worth even a quicj visit. There a museum also where you can learn about Genghis Khan.Visited January 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 January 2023

I opted on my own and was glad I did, The historical informaion was interesting. There is a new GK history museum in UB. - LutzseSingapore, Singapore80 contributionsmost iconic landmark outside of UBIt is impossible traveling to Mongolia without visiting its most iconic landmark (50km outside of UB) , a 40m-high glistening silver Chinggis Khaan statue. Constructed in 2008 from stainless steel, the dramatic statue has a lift rising up its tail, from where there are steps to the horse’s head. It was built here, so the legend goes, because this was the spot where Chinggis Khaan found a golden whipVisited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 July 2023

The statue supposedly made of aluminium or steel is mammoth in size, and visitors can go upto the level of the horse head, for a selfie or enjoy the scenery around. The complex also houses a simple museum containing replicas of Mongolian clothing, armory, utensils, saddles, etc, and couple of extra-ordinarily large size Mongolian boot and whip of the horse. In the complex you would also find the book on The Secrets of Mongul – illustrating the life-history of Chengis Khan. The book has been a work of 13 years research by a Mongolian illustrator, who is present in the building and signs to personalize your copy upon purchase. – The book is worth a buy.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 September 2023
- triotravellersAustralia11 contributionsA Tourist Attraction - pure & simpleI wouldn't call it a bad tourist trap but it does have some of the characteristics of one. It has been planned to be conveniently located near to UB for one day and half day tours on your way to the nearby National Park. There is a good little museum at the bottom of the complex, coffee shops etc. but it suffers from its popularity when bus loads of tourists arrive. The viewing platform is usually packed and hard to get a decent shot from. The complex carpark is surrounded by gorky tourist offerings such as camel rides, archery and dancing eagle pictures which I found a little distasteful (at least there weren't dancing bears). One hour is sufficient to see everything.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 September 2023
- Georgie_FenHong Kong, China277 contributionsCrazy what this fella apparently did…If you come to UB for a visit, this place is a must do. You can also pair it in a day with the national park (gerseli or something like that). Brush up on your history and this guy’s life before going to enjoy the experience a bit more. They could do a lot more to make this place more appealing, but I guess tourism isn’t what Mongolia is known for. In any event, get a photo at the top of the statue and another down the bottom sitting on camel with an eagle on your arm 👍Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 27 November 2023

With his 40 meters high, this is the highest equestrian statue of the wort ( record that will soon be surpassed by the giant under construction in Mumbai with 212 meters of height dedicated to Shiv Smarak )
The completely iron equestrian statue was build in 2008

The building is very far from the city, but it is a historic location in the life of Genghis Khan. If you can walk up the steps in the building, the vista from the horse's head is breathtaking.

This is an amazing sight. The first glimpse of this huge 40m high, shiny statue, set against the blue sky and white snow is incredible. Using the stairs or the lift, one can go up into the body to experience wonderful views. There is a small museum in the lower floor which has a map of Ghengis Khan's empire. So impressive. A definite must see.

On the banks of Tuul river, which is 54km from capital Ulaanbaatar rises a majestic 45m tall statue of the forefather of Mongolia.
This is the tallest equestrian statue in the world and it’s base consist of 36 columns representing the Khans who headed Mongolia after Gengis.

Is that possible to get there by taxi?

Yes but agree a price. As mentioned traffic is dreadful so you could end up paying a lot. Plenty of tourist agencies with trips organised so might be better.
i visited the statue several years ago and purchased a souvenir plate that we hang in our lounge to remind us of our trip.
Unfortunately the plate fell off the wall and can not be repaired.
Has the shop got a replacement plate and if I send them payment could they send to UK.

Yes, they still have a very nice souvenir shop with various items. Great prices and I think if I remember right they had plates! Good luck and happy travels.
What's the price for the outside attractions (such as photo with a wild bird sitting on your arm, horse ride, arrow shutting with a bow)?

We want to visit the complex in beginning of October when it is quiet. How much would a taxi cost to visit the complex from Ulaanbaatar and back for two people?

I cannot give you a price to this as it is quite far from central UB. You may be better finding out about a tour experience!

Здравствуйте! Мы ездили на машине, там не далеко, километров 50. Но знаю, что с центрального проспекта ходят регулярно городские автобусы до городка Налайх. Оттуда возьмите такси, так совсем рядышком и недорого.
