We happened upon the square while walking in between museums and found ourselves hassled by several vendors. Aside from the statue seen in the picture, it’s just a massive lot.
Had to get a pic of Genghis in the main square early on a Sat morning. Boxing club was working out, people were milling around and there was an ice sculpture of the Beatles and Big Ben. Neat place to visit in the morning.

So very impressive both in summer and winter. Love that this square is used as a backdrop for wedding photos. We watched guards om parade, saw ice carvings. The square is made up of different stone which is artwork in itself.
The square is within walking distance of all major hotels. The statues are quite stunning, the State buildings surrounding the huge square resemble the different influences of the country. Truly recommend walking to this site as traffic just never seems to ease up. Get in...More
It's the center point of the whole city. Many of the most important buildings surround the square. it's also been the site of many of Mongolia's most important moments.
This is the central point of UB and the government of Mongolia locates right beside the Genghis Khan Square
Not that interesting except for the immense Ghenis Khan statute. Large space of space surrounded by bland buildings with a car park in front of it
