- marstar0109Seoul, South Korea300 contributionsBeautiful place to visitGreat place to visit no matter what time of year it is. I happened to be visiting in late January, so it was very cold, lots of snow, just beautiful. No people around so it felt like the whole park belonged to me. Peace and quite. I did dog sledding, visited the monastery, stayed in Terelj Star Resort. Great views, mountains, snow, amazing memories. Totally recommend. And of course the Turtle Rock! hahaVisited January 2023Written 1 February 2023
- sarfaraz6 contributionsMust visit.Pristine and breathtaking nature rolled out in all its splendour. Raw and unspoilt. No "touristy" things. We experienced stay in Ger of basic standard, clean bathroom and Mongolian food.Being vegetarian the folks there had modified some of their food to reasonable standard. There are some upmarket resorts but we preffered a basic one.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 3 July 2023

Turtle Rock is funny one. love it.Visited July 2019Written 15 February 2020

So green. Rolling hills and small mountains.
Turtle rock and monastery.
But getting kinda touristy with lotsa development and half built properties.
Certainly stay at one of the ger camps-hotels and go to giant Khan on your way back to UB

This is a very beautiful National Park, with mountains, boulders and pines all spread out in a grand pleasant view. There are many good accommodations.

Do you dream of untouched sceneries and roaming nomads? Do not waste your time to go to Terelj, if you plan to remain in the southern part of the aerea. Unfortunately, the aerea up to the Turtle rock and the little village of Terelj is badly spoilt and degraded by too many camps, often with ugly buildings, unfinished hotel complexes, ruins of buildings. In Terelji, the woods and little rivers are littered with waste. All the aerea must have been splendid 30 years ago! You will find what you were dreaming of, when you dreamt of Mongolia, if you pass and leave Terelj towards Chagin Char Nuut and the Temple of the princess. I just hope that this part of the aerea will remain unspoiled.

We have the choice of going to the National Park in September or October. Which month is best and what is the weather like at that time?

I was there in July and the weather was good the whole time but September might be fine I suggest you check the weather on line as winter sets in early.

What are the temperatures like in September and October. Which is the best time to go between Sept and Oct?

I’d go in September. It might have a little snow, but likely more snow and colder in October. September will be cool and nights probably cold, but it will be nice for hiking around and enjoying the scenery.

Riding camel or horse, what's the price ? Is there some acommodation that offer some Mongolian meal in Gobi ?

There's often a guy outside the road to the park with eagles and camels and knick knacks. He'll provide a camel ride for about 5000 Tugriks I think.
As far as horses go, it depends on where you go. I think I paid 20000 for an hour ride with a very lovely slow horse.

lots of gers to stay at. Some offer ensuite bath rooms others do not. I prefer my own bathroom so we stayed in a location up on a hill with excellent view and a bathroom and heater in the ger. I could spend weeks staying there.

It depends what are you looking for.
1. ShangriLa is the good one in the Capital city.
2. Three camels lodge is out of the town and
Resort in the middle of the Gobi Desert.
If you like to see Nature of the Gobi, Camel Ride or some Nomads life experience go there and stay.

How much time does it take to walk from the Bus Stop beside UB2 camp to (a) Aryapala monastery and (b) Turtle Rock?
What time is the return bus? Does it leave at UB2 camp?
Thanks!

No idea sorry, we booked a private driver he took us around for the day. It was really cheap, we booked it in the Government Department store when we were there.

Hello guys, I'd love to go to this Park and stay in Ger for one night, but I've seen the transportation isn't easy so I'm looking at tours.
Wondering whether you guys have recommendations on what sources can I look at for a 2-day tour?
Thanks a lot.

I booked a tour through Viator. I was on a tight window so I found a trip that fit my timeline. It was good, you will love it.
