About
The Shine Zamnal NGO–Mongolian Quilting Center (MQC) a non-government organization is founded in 2004 to contribute to the economic development of poor, disabled, unemployed women and orphans through technical training and production of handmade patchwork and quilted items. MQC’s operation is dedicated for social service, encouraging upcycling, patchwork quilting, and empowering families and supporting volunteering in the community. With our position as the first organization to introduce upcycling, quilting and patchwork art in Mongolia, we have reached over 4,000 Mongolian women whereas more than 60 percent of the trainees were unemployed, single mothers, people with disabilities, and low-income women and benefitted from the art of quilting in their livelihood. Upon 18 years of experience and our vision; Piecing together for Sells handmade quilts produced by low-income families. The money earned here goes to the New Life NGO, which directly supports the women who produce the quilts.

Creativity of the souvenirs is on another level.

Very pretty, unique, and useful items with reasonable price at their own shop. I recommend going to their shop directly instead of buying them from big stores.

Employees are very friendly; well spoken in both Mongolian and English.

It was nice to think that I was contributing the small community of women who are unable to have steady income just by buying their work.

Popped on as we were wandering around Ulaanbaatar and ended up buying a couple of last minute souvenirs at the end of our trip. If we'd had more luggage space, we would've bought more. Awesome to support this fabulous nonprofit. Selenge is doing a good job, but the more we support this endeavor the better.

Such a lovely shop that supports women from low income families around Mongolia. We had so much fun looking at all the items decorated with gers, horses, camels, the Olzii motif and others. Lovely pieced jackets. My friend bought a beautiful quilt for a very reasonable price.

Selenge and her colleagues were absolutely wonderful to work with. I ordered two quilts for my children with a brief description of the designs I had in mind, and Selenge and her team gave them a touch of their own to jazz-it up a bit which I greatly appreciated. I highly recommend the Mongolian Quilting Centre for unique quilts, bags, and many more items for yourself or others!

The quilt products are reasonably priced and gorgeous! Wanted to buy most of their tote bags. They make authentic and memorable souvenirs for your friends back home, while supporting a great cause. Had the opportunity to meet Ms Selenge, the founder of the place, and she has been supporting women in Mongolia via the NGO for the past 15 years. Do pay a visit when you are around in Ulaanbaatar!

Lovely Non-Profit shop in the heart of UB wonderful selection of quilts and many unique items hand stitched by the nomadic women of Mongolia. Profits go directly back to the women who create these beautiful quilts. I highly recommend stopping by to check out their products and pick up a unique one of a kind gift, I recommend buying more then one thing you will want to keep a gift for yourself!

Love this shop, I'm able to buy beautiful mongolian inspired quilted items and support local women at the same time. They have a lovely assortment of large and small functional gifts to buy. The colors and designs are outstanding. It is right off of Seoul Street the second left street after Naram Mall, it faces a small children's park.

I highly recommend visiting the Mongolian quilting centre when you visit Ulaanbaatar! There is a great range of Amazing gifts including bags, placemats, stuffed toys even Xmas decorations and advent calendars. Plus a lot more! All at a very reasonable price and supporting the great work this NGO does; providing meaningful employment to disadvantaged women.

This is a really lovely small shop selling a wide variety of beautiful handmade items. There are stunning quilted wall hangings, but lots of other quilted and sewn pieces, all reasonably priced. The organisation works with disadvantaged women, so it’s a great to support them. It’s a 10 minute walk from the main square in the city, but it is on Soul St, parallel to Peace Avenue and is clearly labelled on the outside of the building.
