Beautiful wild woodlands, considering its so close to the city. Very pleasant hiking and camping. Easily accessible for a short visit.

Beautiful national park with endless hiking trails. It has a creek that runs in the middle that freezes during fall and winter. The entrance of the park has a big parking space and a restaurant (which I never visited since I'm not much into Mongolian food).
One downside that there are no toilet facilities for the big demand it has during weekends. Another downside the abandoned structures that remain from an old hotel, these should just be torn down.
I don't value this park for its attractions but rather for the hiking trails and the views, which are lovely.

We stayed one night in the Corporate Nukth hotel. It is nearby UB (many new building) and nothing special to see. So stay further far from UB.

We managed to hike around the park. There were cows at the bottom of the slope. Very scenic view from the top. Felt very peaceful there.

I went here with a guide and told me that there are different trails going here. The view from Han peak is amazing! It gives you a nice view of the city.

From this part, you can see the city view. Ulaanbaatar is a nice city. I don't understand that some tourists don't like Ulaanbaatar. They are so ignorant

As we visited Mongolia in March, we spent a lot of time on the Steppe with a brief foray onto into the desert. Bogd Khan Uul National Park was a taste of something different as the forests fingers down into the Steppe. We hiked among the ruins of what was once a grand temple complex (before the Stalinist purges in the 30s). The road is rough in the spring, but he experience is worth it. Go.

There are many beautiful and tall trees that save me from the pollusion of city.
So, why don't you go up to happy zone. You can feel the fresh air, eventhough it's little cold...

A would highly recommend a hike in the cities nearby Bogd Khan Uul area. The hiking and nature itself are lovely, but even better is seeing the many happy Mongolians (of all ages) enjoying this wonderful resource. 110% recommend.

This is a monument to the Russian and Mongolian soldiers who fought together. You can get some good views of the city from here. Also a good work-out getting to the top of the stairs. I can imagine that this place would be brutal in the winter !! Nice mural when you get to the top, which is the payoff. Hope this review helped. If it did, let me know.

Are there any public buses from UB to the begining of the trail, or at least somewhere near?
We are planning to go there this June.
Thank you

Hello,
We are a couple spending 3 days in Ulaanbaatar, and we would like to spend a day at Manzushir Monastery + Bogd Khan Mountain.
Basically I was thinking of getting a taxi from UB to the monastery, then walking all the way back to UB through the mountain. I've read a review on TripAdvisor of someone who had seen groups of people going for that hike.
We would like to do this alone and without a guide: does anyone know if it is feasible?
Does anyone know where we could find a map of trails, or of a possible route back to UB from the monastery?
Otherwise I would just walk north from the monastery, but I don't know how hard the climbs are, and how wild the route is.
Thanks,
Hugo
